Manage end-to-end ocean and air freight shipments while optimizing operational workflows and KPIs across regional teams. Lead junior staff and collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure compliance, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
Requires 3-8 years of experience in international freight forwarding with deep knowledge of customs regulations and logistics software. Candidates must possess strong leadership skills, commercial awareness, and fluency in English.
About the Role

As a Senior Operations professional, you will play a key role in ensuring operational excellence across our ocean and air freight activities. Working closely with teams across 8 countries, you will help drive service quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction while supporting the future growth of our Malaysia business.
What You'll Do
1. Freight Operations
• Handle end-to-end import and export ocean and air freight shipments.
• Coordinate with carriers, airlines, overseas agents, customs brokers, and customers.
• Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve operational issues.
• Ensure timely and accurate job closure and billing.
2. Operational Excellence
• Develop and improve operational workflows and best practices.
• Monitor KPIs and identify opportunities for service improvements.
• Support the implementation and optimization of logistics systems and operational processes.
3. Team Support & Leadership
• Support and guide junior operations staff and share operational best practices.
• Assist in training new team members and promoting a collaborative working environment.
• Act as a senior point of contact for complex operational matters.
4. Cost & Profitability Management
• Verify cost alignments with quotations and customer agreements.
• Monitor shipment profitability and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.
• Support procurement and sales teams with operational and pricing insights.
5. Cross-Department & Regional Collaboration
• Work closely with sales, finance, and customer service teams to achieve business objectives.
• Coordinate with domestic and international freight agents.
• Collaborate with operations teams across multiple countries to standardize best practices and support regional growth.
6. Compliance & Documentation
• Review and manage shipping documentation, invoices, customs declarations, and related paperwork.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations, trade requirements, and company policies.
7. Customer Relationship Management
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve operational issues professionally and efficiently.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and overseas partners.
8. Risk Management
• Identify operational risks and implement mitigation measures to ensure service continuity.
What You Bring
Experience
• 3–8 years of experience in international freight forwarding.
• Strong operational knowledge of ocean and air freight import and export processes.
• Good understanding of customs regulations and international transportation procedures.
• Experience working with freight forwarding systems and operational technologies.
Leadership & Management Skills
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to take ownership of complex operational matters.
Technical Skills
• Proficient in freight forwarding and logistics management software.
• Comfortable with data analysis, reporting, and process improvement initiatives.
• Experience with system implementation or optimization is an advantage.
Communication Skills
• Strong communication and coordination skills with customers, suppliers, and global agents.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are an advantage.
Attention to Detail
• High level of accuracy in documentation, billing, and shipment management.
Commercial Awareness
• Understanding of operational costs, profitability, and service performance metrics.
