ECS is seeking a CMT Department Manager to lead and grow its Construction Materials Testing group in Daytona Beach, FL. This role offers the opportunity to oversee high-visibility residential, commercial, and high-rise development projects throughout the region while managing both field operations and laboratory performance. Key Responsibilities
Manage the full lifecycle of construction materials testing and field services engineering projects from proposal through closeout
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of CMT engineers, project managers, field technicians, and laboratory personnel
Oversee laboratory operations, scheduling, staffing, and quality control procedures
Perform technical review of proposals, engineering reports, testing documentation, and calculations
Track department budget, revenue, forecasts, utilization, and overall financial performance
Coordinate with clients, contractors, developers, and internal engineering teams to ensure successful project execution
Support business development efforts by maintaining existing client relationships and identifying new project opportunities
Ensure compliance with company standards, project specifications, and applicable testing procedures
Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and operational efficiency across multiple active projects
Maintain a strong safety culture and reinforce quality assurance standards throughout field and laboratory operations

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
6 to 8+ years of related engineering experience within construction materials testing and field services engineering
Experience conducting laboratory testing, construction observation, field quality assurance testing, site grading, and supervising construction materials testing operations
Experience managing teams, project schedules, and client relationships within a consulting engineering environment
Strong technical writing and report review experience
Ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and departmental financial performance
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to drive accountability and team development
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
Previous experience leading CMT operations for residential, commercial, or high-rise development projects
Experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams in a consulting engineering environment
Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure
Experience supporting operational growth and client development initiatives
