Full job description

About Dioxycle

Dioxycle is pioneering breakthrough carbon utilization technologies that convert industrial emissions into sustainable chemicals with unprecedented energy and cost efficiency. By displacing fossil fuels for the production of key chemicals, Dioxycle has the potential to ultimately reduce over 800 million tons of CO2 per year, representing over 2% of the world's emissions.

At the core of our process is a novel "carbon electrolyzer", a machine capable of using just electricity and water to convert carbon emissions back into valuable everyday essential chemicals. Our team is innovating across chemical, mechanical and system engineering to turn carbon transformation into an economically feasible, industrial reality through this completely novel technological approach. Having completed our industrial-scale electrolyzer prototype, we are now working with our chemical and downstream offtakers towards First-of-a-kind plant deployment and subsequent commercial roll-out.

We are supported by world-class funders including Bill-Gates-founded Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital and Gigascale Capital and have raised $40M to date. We operate from two centers in Paris and California (so whether you are passionate about outdoors or good food/art scenes, we have a location for you to join!)

Your Mission

Dioxycle is seeking a hands-on Electromechanical Technician to join our systems team. You'll be working directly on the systems that operate our electrolyzer stacks in a hands-on role assembling, maintaining and troubleshooting automated test benches. You will apply mechanical, electrical, and software skills in your every day work, contributing to continued improvement and operation of our extensive electrolyzer test systems.

Your key responsibilities will center around:

- Program and maintain PLC-based control systems (Beckhoff) on our lab and field electrolyzer units.

- Wire, install, and troubleshoot sensors, actuators, and electrical panels

- Troubleshooting and maintenance of test benches, including instrumentation and controls

- Testing and validation of the sub-systems through the implementation of test protocols

- Implementation and tuning of PID controllers

- Writing of documentation

- Benchmark suppliers and contact them

- Maintain inventory and improve the inventory system

\nAbilities and expertise we are looking for
  • Diploma (e.g. DUT) or degree in electrical engineering, automation, or a related field - or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 1+ years of experience (internships/apprenticeships and personal projects all count, however, candidates with more experience are warmly encouraged to apply)
  • Some exposure to PLC programming (Beckhoff, Rockwell, Siemens, or Schneider - any is fine; you'll learn Beckhoff on the job)
  • Familiarity with electrical panel design and reading wiring diagrams
  • Hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, and basic electronics troubleshooting
  • Comfortable using an oscilloscope and basic electronics measurement tools
Mindset we are looking for
  • Exemplary work ethic and self-driven attitude: you get things done fast and to a high standard and you don't drop the ball
  • "Street-smart": you don't take no for an answer and will figure out a way to solve anything with the means available
  • Commitment to the mission and ambition and to creating a kind, high-performance and fun atmosphere at work (100% on-site role)
  • Passion for innovation and problem-solving attitude
  • Dedication to investing time and effort for the betterment of the team
  • Going the extra 20% that makes a good deliverable into an outstanding deliverable
  • Humble, low-ego and curious
What we have to offer
  • Unique journey: We are an early-stage company with a world-class team and a flat structure.
  • Impact: We are building a product that will reshape century-old industrial processes to build a better, more sustainable and resilient world
  • People-first: We love our people. We are excited to see one another every morning when coming to work. We choose people and they choose us to share a similar excitement.
  • Feedback over ego: We are self-improving whilst helping others grow. We are no-ego doers and we are all responsible for shaping the company.
  • International team: We are an international team made up of over 17 nationalities, and hopefully many more soon!
  • Fun: We constantly strive to cultivate a great work atmosphere and organize regular team events.
  • Competitive compensation packages
  • Generous Employee Stock Ownership plans
  • Health Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Ergonomic work stations & state-of-the-art equipment
Our process
  • An initial video call with Grace, Director of People, to discuss Dioxycle's mission, get to know you, understand your career expectations, and answer your questions (30 mins)
  • Expert screening call with Peter, Head of Systems (30 mins)
  • Technical deepdive interview/case study with Peter, Head of Systems (1 hour)
  • Onsite interview including Cofounder interview & opportunity to tour our technology & meet the wider team (2-3 hours)
  • A series of reference calls with provided contacts

Dioxycle is developing next-generation electrified chemical manufacturing technologies that produce cheaper, cleaner and sovereign critical chemicals, key to mining, energy infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and consumer goods. Our technology uses electricity and widely available feedstocks (CO, CO2 emissions, salt streams) rather than fossil fuels, de-linking the production of critical chemicals from fossil-linked supply chains exposed to chokepoints, export bans, and price volatility. We focus on chemicals where our direct electrified pathway simplifies complex multi-step fossil-fuel-based processes into fewer simpler steps; delivering a process that is both cleaner and cheaper. Having validated the superiority of our technology at our industrial module scale, we are now preparing for commercial deployment. Dioxycle is led by a world-class team of renowned chemical industry executives and entrepreneurs as well as top scientists in next-gen electrochemical processes. Since launching in 2021, Dioxycle has raised $40 m from top-tier investors including Bill-Gates-founded Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital, Gigascale Capital, Collaborative Fund and EU/French grants.
