Location: New Delhi
Purpose:
The Clean Air programme at CEEW is committed to reducing particulate concentrations in the Indo-Gangetic Plain by 30 per cent by 2030. Backed by rigorous data analysis, integrated research and strategic communications and stakeholder engagement, our work is geared towards strengthening data-driven air quality management in the country. The three pillars guiding our work are:
Data and integrated analysis
Technical assistance to state and local governments
Building agency among communities through strategic outreach
For its clean air programme, CEEW seeks to hire a Research Intern with a good understanding of India’s air quality sector. We are looking for a curious researcher for our Delhi office who has the ability to ask the right questions, conduct stellar research on the nexus between agriculture and air quality, and summarise key findings into a lucid brief.
Job Duties and Accountabilities
Research
To understand and map the pollution control technologies for air quality management.
To carry out the relevant literature review and summarise findings as reports
To work with senior researchers on developing dashboards model using tools like Python, R, QGIS and relevant AI tools.
To provide research content for the organisation's web pages, blogs, issue briefs etc.
To update and manage the in-house databases on air quality
To engage with relevant stakeholders from industries, policy experts, and academicians
To participate in relevant conferences, workshops, training programmes for a comprehensive understanding of air quality management in India and globally.
Programme assistance
Assist with project implementation, including preparing presentations, factsheets and other communication materials.
Support efforts to use new media platforms for wide dissemination of CEEW's work and, in turn, closer engagement with the wider community.
Participate in weekly team meetings and assist with preparing minutes.
Accompany the other team members for meetings with other stakeholders; prepare minutes of the meetings and assist with relevant follow-up.
Selection Criteria
Education
Bachelor’s or Master's degree with a specialisation in engineering, economics, public policy or related field
Should have a strong research background, including an understanding of experimental and analytical research.
Familiarity and a high degree of comfort with quantitative skills and analyses
Main skills
Strong analytic skills including quantitative research skills
Good written and oral communication skills; Good report writing skills
Desirable: Experience in working with geospatial and other big datasets related to air quality
Personality
Willingness to learn new (research and project management) skills
Ability to adapt to the new environment and deliver under tight deadlines in a professional environment
Striving for rigour in research and quality in work output
Ability to effectively work in a team while being able to independently drive research with minimum assistance, when time demands.
Ability to dig deeper into details, while also keeping a sense of the broader objectives and big picture
