Inspector Vegoil
Autonomously performs agricultural oils and fats (“Products”) inspection and sampling on vessels, barges, rail/road cars and/or shore tanks according to FOSFA or similar procedures, and all applicable Saybolt standards..
Key Accountabilities
Performance at 95% or more of set KPI indicators.
Customer feedback and satisfaction.
Selected customers actual revenue growth against set objectives.
Achievement of set client reporting improvement targets.
Safety record and reporting.
Compliance with all applicable industry standards and Saybolt policies.
General tasks and duties
Operations
Proactively carries-out activities in accordance with individual client instructions and all applicable industry and Saybolt standard procedures and policies.
Attends training and pass appropriate examinations in FOSFA/NOFOTA and other safety training required by applicable regulations and Saybolt policies.
Responds to and confirms clients’ nominations, ensuring comprehensiveness and clarity with regard to the scope of work, agreed rates, etc.
Liaises with all parties involved in the performance of inspections (e.g. terminals, vessels/barges, agents, customs, subcontractors if any, laboratories, etc.).
Performs visual cleanliness inspection of vessel, barges, rail/road cars or shore tanks.
Verifies the calibration and accuracy of measurement equipment and maintain equipment in proper storage and working order.
Determines Products quantity by measuring physical fluid bulk, density, temperature and metering.
Performs Products sampling as per FOSFA, ISO, or other applicable industry standards and Saybolt policies.
Ensures samples are properly labelled, stored, and registered, and remain fully available and traceable for the duration of storage agreed with customers or otherwise applicable.
Is generally aware of the relevant analytical test methods for the Products, and of Saybolt Vlaardingen laboratory’s ability to perform analytical tests accordingly.
Autonomously completes and submits to clients inspection and quality reports using Saybolt’s systems..
Participates in the design and roll-out of adaptations of Saybolt’s operational information systems to adapt reporting to the Location’s customer’s specific requirements.
Performs on-site documentary reconciliations with other involved parties (e.g. Master/Chief Officer, object’s agent, terminals, etc.).
Provides training and coaching as required.
Commercial
Answers customers questions, clarification requests, or complaints, in the first instance. Escalates to superior when needed.
Occasionally joins the Location’s or Agri. management visit to clients to provide detailed technical insight.
Qualifications
Minimum high school / secondary education or equivalent.
Minimum 5+ year relevant experience as specialised Inspector.
IFIA Certified Inspector or equivalent.
Physically fit which includes lifting items up to 20 kg (or in accordance with local regulations) – see “Other Information”.
Advanced knowledge of vegetable and animal oils and fats , and related products.
Good verbal and written knowledge of local language and English.
Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations (e.g. compute flow rate, ratio, percentage, quantities – linear, volumetric or weight – and geometrical calculations).
Advanced computer skills (MS Windows, Word, Excel, company systems).
Valid driving license and satisfactory driving record.
Other Information
The job requires employee to inspect tanks which includes working at heights and confined spaces. Employee should be mobile (walk, climb, carry), rely on senses (sight, talk, hear, smell) and be able to lift items up to 20 kg (or in accordance with local regulations). The employee will be required to work irregular hours / shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays) and work away from their base office
