POSITION OVERVIEW
Safely operate a container delivery truck (stinger) and its on-board hydraulic systems to deliver and remove commercial solid waste containers, operate the company’s mobile foam (EPS) shredder truck on a recurring schedule, and fill the gaps wherever the operation needs coverage. Container delivery does not fill a full week on its own, so this role is built for a jack of all trades who is willing to get out of the truck and work. Driving is a large part of the day, but it is not the whole job.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Container Delivery:
Containers delivered, placed & removed safely and on schedule - operate on-board hydraulic systems, position containers so potential hazards are minimized or eliminated, cover containers without lids during transport & deliver collected waste to the disposal site.
· Foam (EPS) Shredder Truck:
Scheduled foam accounts serviced approximately two days per week - collect and feed material, reject contaminated loads, operate the shredder and densifier using prescribed techniques, lock out before clearing jams & deliver processed material to the designated facility.
· Route Fill-In:
Routed work covered when needed - fill in for absences, vacations & heavy volume days to keep routes on schedule.
· Yard & Fleet Support:
Yard, fleet & containers kept service-ready - truck wash runs, container and cart cleaning and repair, fleet walks, grounds and yard maintenance & shop support as assigned.
· Assignment Flexibility:
A full day’s work completed every day - accept and complete any assigned work you are qualified and able to perform; finishing a route early means moving to the next assignment, not a shorter shift.
· Safety Model:
Zero preventable accidents - model DOT compliance, safe driving behavior & pre/post-trip inspection standards, wear all required PPE and report accidents, injuries & property damage to the Supervisor immediately.
· Inspections:
Pre/post-trip safety lane inspections and daily truck report completed every day - communicate vehicle mechanical problems to the mechanic and Supervisor immediately and operate equipment using prescribed techniques to eliminate driver-induced mechanical failures.
· Customer:
Professional demeanor, manner & appearance at every stop - resolve minor issues on site, de-escalate and report outcomes to the Supervisor same day.
· Documentation:
Accurate records of all services performed - route sheets, weight tickets, inspection reports, hours of service, mileage & proof of service completed as requested by the Supervisor daily.
· Timekeeping:
Accurate punches and job codes every day - punch out and back in for meal periods and change job codes when the work changes.
· Yard Inventory:
Containers and equipment staged in an orderly manner - keep the yard organized and accessible.
· Other duties as assigned.
