Forestry Technician

Amount of Travel: Estimated between 80% - 100% during peak seasons

About the Opportunity

Copperhead Environmental Consulting is actively seeking a full-time, temporary/seasonal technician to work with and support our team of experienced Foresters on a short-term project.  The duration of the project will range from 4-8 weeks.  This position and employment will end at the conclusion of the project.   

All work is at the direction and guidance of licensed and experienced Foresters.

This is a non-exempt, hourly position based in Paint Lick, Kentucky.  This position reports to a physical office or project site for work as directed.  Due to the nature of the job, this position is not eligible for insurance benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Take direction from Foresters on tasks to be completed including appropriate and required processes, applications in order to safely and efficiently support the Forestry team and project.
  • Mechanical and chemical timber stand improvement (TSI)
  • Herbicide applications
  • Operate forestry equipment including large capacity herbicide sprayers safely and effectively.
  • Clean and maintain field equipment and vehicles.

Working Conditions/Physical Effort

The Forester Technician position will require working in variable weather conditions on rough, rocky, uneven terrain at remote locations under physically demanding circumstances. Work locations will vary throughout the region including various locations including, but not limited to, Kentucky. This position may also require:

  • Considerable physical exertion including the ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds
  • Long hours in isolated setting
  • The ability to work varying and flexible work schedules, i.e., potentially through weekends.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Flexible schedule
  • Ability to be away from home overnight for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be team orientated. 
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Physically capable of working in rugged terrain, traversing long distances on foot, carrying gear, and in extreme weather conditions.
  • Must hold a valid Real ID driver’s license.
