We are recruiting for an experienced Surface Land Administrator, starting as a temporary part-time (3–4 days per week) role, with the potential to transition to a permanent part-time position after approximately 6 months, based on fit and performance. This role supports the Land Department by ensuring efficient, accurate, and compliant day-to-day operations, while maintaining surface land records for capital projects and base asset management.
The position involves collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders and requires strong communication skills, along with a solid understanding of Alberta Crown and Freehold land legislation and processes.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review, process and track third party crossing and road use agreement requests
- Process monthly surface lease annual rental payments (run reports and reconciliation) and rent review notice letters
- Process documentation for execution, distribution and any required payments
- Preparation of surface land documentation for acquisition and divestiture projects, including the timely and accurate input into Surface Land database (CS Explorer)
- Assist with requirements for Alberta Crown disposition renewals, amendments and related inquiries in a timely manner (OneStop submissions and associated inputs)
- Maintain accurate and organized records and documentation, this includes physical files, digital files and updating the land system (CS Explorer)
- Liase with and support Land and other department team members as required
- Ensure timely processing of landowner and other payments
- Prepare, execute and submit Land title registrations ensuring accuracy and attention to detail and accurate file records
- Support special projects and perform additional duties as assigned or required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 8 years proven and strong industry related experience in surface land administration, analysis and execution in both Crown and Freehold land in Alberta in relation to new capital projects, existing operations, environment/reclamation, acquisitions and divestitures.
- A good working knowledge of Alberta legislation and administrative procedures (Public Lands Act, Regulations and Directives (D56)
- Post-secondary education in surface land administration, business or a similar related field. is an asset
- Proficiency in using CS Explorer, AbaData, Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint and Teams)
- Strong working knowledge of AER OneStop, ETS, DDS, SPIN II
- Familiarity and experience with AFE Navigator and Open Invoice is an asset
