Coherent Corp. is the global leader in photonics, designing and manufacturing advanced laser, optical, and material technologies used by customers worldwide across industrial, communications, electronics, and instrumentation markets.
With a broad global footprint and deep engineering capability, we combine advanced manufacturing, applied innovation, and customer collaboration to deliver high-performance solutions that enable critical technologies and solve complex, real-world challenges.
About Coherent in Switzerland Coherent Corp. Zurich is a key research and production hub specializing in advanced photonics, engineered materials, and high-power semiconductor laser technologies. Our teams develop and manufacture opto-electronic components and laser diodes for industrial, optical data transmission, life science, and high-precision applications, combining strong in-house R&D with state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing in an engineering-led culture.
As a Process Integration Engineer, you will coordinate the introduction and integration of new products, processes, and tools into our semiconductor manufacturing lines.
Working closely with research and development, process engineering, product engineering, manufacturing, and information technology teams, you will develop and optimize complete process flows and manufacturing run sheets. You will assess how individual fabrication steps interact, investigate process issues, and provide technical guidance to ensure products can be successfully fabricated and transferred into production.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and information technology teams to implement and integrate new products, processes, and tools within manufacturing line control systems
Develop and maintain complete process flows, manufacturing run sheets, and process recipes in collaboration with process engineers and R&D teams
Assess existing process capabilities and constraints across the full manufacturing flow and propose solutions in collaboration with Process Engineering, Product Engineering, and R&D
Determine critical process parameters and conduct optimization experiments to improve yield, throughput, and cycle times
Inspect and analyze wafers and products throughout the manufacturing process to understand the interdependencies between fabrication steps
Set up new process flows and experiments for R&D activities and product optimization, providing guidance on appropriate engineering treatments
Troubleshoot issues affecting R&D and production wafers and investigate complex problems across the manufacturing process
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Microsystems Engineering, or a related technical field
At least three to five years of relevant professional experience in semiconductor process engineering, process integration, wafer fabrication, or a related field
Experience working within a cleanroom or semiconductor manufacturing environment
Additional Skills & Requirements
Comprehensive knowledge of semiconductor processes and process flows across different manufacturing stages, with a focus on front end wafer fabrication
Knowledge of GaAs and InP material systems and related semiconductor activities, including epitaxy, testing, and assembly
Experience in one or more of the following areas: mask design, simulations, or optics
Experience using databases and Python for process analysis or manufacturing applications is preferred
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to assess process data, investigate issues, and make fact based decisions
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide technical guidance across engineering, manufacturing, and R&D teams
Fluent written and spoken English. German language skills are advantageous
