The CJIS Administrator is responsible for ensuring department-wide compliance with FBI and Texas DPS regulations regarding criminal justice information. This role manages system access, oversees policy enforcement, and prepares the department for audits and risk assessments.
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least six years of experience in public safety compliance and policy auditing. Strong knowledge of CJIS requirements and the ability to work in a fast-paced municipal environment are essential.
The Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Administrator reports directly to the Chief of Police. The CJIS Administrator serves as the department’s designated authority responsible for CJIS compliance and governance. This role provides centralized oversight to ensure ongoing adherence to FBI and Texas DPS CJIS requirements, including the development and enforcement of policies, procedures, and internal controls. The CJIS Administrator also manages system access and information security for all sworn and non-sworn personnel, contractors, and vendors requiring CJIS access. This position plays a critical role in training and compliance tracking and is also responsible for audit preparation and risk management.
