SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance operations for Boyle Transportation’s fleet, equipment, and facilities to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations. This role leads maintenance personnel, coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and works closely with operations and safety teams to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring all maintenance activities meet applicable regulatory requirements and company standards while supporting operational goals through effective planning, resource allocation, and budget management. This position monitors maintenance performance, manages vendor relationships and inventory, and implements continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, control costs, and extend the life cycle of company assets in a fast-paced transportation environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the maintenance team including technicians
  • Develop and implement strategic maintenance plans that align with company goals.
  • Set performance targets and KPI’s for fleet, technicians and company in regard to maintenance.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as safety, operations, accounting, etc to improve fleet reliability.
  • Oversee maintenance programs related to the fleet equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local DOT regulations and standards.
  • Adhering to maintenance budgets ensuring cost effective operations without compromising safety or compliance
  • Negotiate contracts with external parts suppliers and vendors and evaluate performance regularly to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Leverage maintenance programs (ie. Fleetio, Samsara) tracking, reporting and forecasting
  • Identify and implement new maintenance practices and new technology to align with company goals
  • Plan and manage lifecycle replacement strategies for equipment
  • Work with HR to recruit, train, and retain skilled personnel for the maintenance team
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred 
  • Diesel Mechanic (ASE) Certification, preferred
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in Fleet Maintenance required
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role required
  • Capable of acquiring a Department of Defense Security Clearance.
  • Deep understanding of diesel engines, trailers, shop operations, and regulatory requirements
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Proven track record in reducing downtime, managing large budgets, and implementing process improvements
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Excellent PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position does not have any direct reports

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75 % of the time
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 50+ pounds

Travel Requirements: 

  • This position will be required to travel to each Boyle location quarterly

Schedule: Monday - Friday Day Shift

Compensation: $100,000 - $110,000 / year
