The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in managing an NCAA Division III basketball program by leading practices, developing game strategies, and recruiting high school athletes. They also represent the university at professional functions and oversee student workers and volunteer staff.
Candidates must hold a college degree and possess 2-5 years of relevant coaching or playing experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a valid driver's license are required, with a Master's degree preferred.
About the Department
Job Summary
Direct the work of student workers and volunteer assistant coaches.
Serve on departmental committees. Represent the University of Chicago in professional, alumni, and civic functions.
Comply with institutional, University Athletic Association, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Extensive domestic travel required.
Secondary departmental responsibilities will be assigned by the Athletic Director.
All of your coaching staff are required to drive for recruiting purpose.
Has a moderate/high level of authority to participate in staff meetings, individual planning meetings, and parent-student staffings.
Helps staff to plan and execute events.
Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree.
Minimum of two years of significant and relevant playing or teaching/coaching experience in Men's Basketball at the professional, collegiate, or high school level.
Familiarity with NCAA rules and Division III philosophy.
CPR/First Aid certification (may be fulfilled upon employment).
Valid Driver's License.
Proficient in computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite and other software.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments concurrently.
Embracing and understanding the importance of diversity and inclusion on teams and at the University.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required.
