Full job description

Homeschool Instructor

You'll design, deliver, and evaluate engaging lessons tailored to middle school learners—fostering mastery in mathematical concepts and literacy skills. Whether it’s fundamental math or narrative writing, you'll spark curiosity, build confidence, and support academic growth in a one-on-one or small-group environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Design & Lesson Planning
Create and implement customized lesson plans aligned with state standards and student learning styles.
  • Instruction & Engagement
Deliver lessons that are interactive and adaptive—integrating games, real-world examples, STEM-related readings, and writing exercises as appropriate.
  • Assessment & Progress Monitoring
Administer and grade assignments, quizzes, and projects. Track progress regularly, identify areas for improvement, and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Support Diverse Learners
Modify lessons to meet the needs of students with learning differences, such as ASD, dyslexia, or dysgraphia. Employ strategies that build confidence, strengthen executive functioning, and promote engagement.
  • Feedback & Communication
Provide timely, constructive feedback to students. Maintain regular communication with parents or guardians to share updates and suggest strategies for further support.
  • Learning Environment Management
Establish and maintain a positive, nurturing, and organized learning space—focused on fostering independent learning, critical thinking, and a love of learning.

Qualifications

  • Required: Certified teacher OR at least 5 years of proven experience as a homeschool instructor.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, English, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching middle school-aged students in Math and ELA.
  • Familiarity with working with students who have learning disabilities (e.g., ASD, dyslexia, dysgraphia), and ability to adapt lessons accordingly.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Creative, patient, empathetic, and committed to ongoing professional development.

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Meaningful Impact: Teach in a personalized setting where your guidance truly shapes student success.
  • Flexible Structure: Options for part-time or full-time schedules—and the potential for remote or hybrid arrangements.
  • Customized Teaching: Use your creativity to tailor lessons that resonate with each student’s interests and learning style.
  • Collaborative Partnership: Work closely with families to reinforce learning at home and celebrate milestones together.

We are a team of seasoned education professionals with more than 500 years of combined experience supporting students, schools, and families across Texas. What started as a network of specialists providing evaluations and consultation throughout the greater San Antonio area has evolved into AIM—Assessment, Intervention & Management—the three pillars that guide everything we do. Through AIM Educate (our partner division), we collaborate with over 45 school districts and charter networks across South Texas, providing contract services that include Licensed Specialists in School Psychology (LSSPs), speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, counselors, special education coordinators, and behavioral therapists. Our experts help districts stay compliant, reduce caseloads, and strengthen their special education programs with scalable, student-centered solutions. Through AIM Educate Private Clinic (our private division), we work directly with families to provide psycho-educational evaluations, homeschool support, tutoring, test prep, and college advising. Our goal is to help every learner understand their unique profile and reach their full potential—whether that means identifying a learning difference, finding the right academic supports, or building confidence for what comes next. At AIM, we believe better understanding leads to better outcomes. Whether you’re a school in need of support or a family seeking answers, we’re here to bridge the gap between potential and progress.
