Summary Job Statement:
The purpose of this position is to produce, analyze risks, broker, and manage a book of business with primary emphasis on writing new business. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills; strong decision-making skills, and the ability to bring creativity to brokering risks is important. A strong work ethic, good organizational skills, and the ability to work in a team environment is critical. Must have the ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with peers, clients, carriers, and industry personnel.
Education:
High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
Qualifications:
5+ years of Healthcare and Human Services/Standard Business-related insurance coverages recommended
Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Excellent presentation and organizational abilities
Growth and results-driven mindset
Ability to deliver client-focused solutions and create long-lasting relationships
Travel to agent and client locations as required as well as travel to attend meetings, sales events, and trainings to keep abreast of the latest developments (some overnight stays)
Must be comfortable working with dynamic & diverse customers, and able to handle personalities and situations with a positive attitude
Continue to work to improve technical skills via formal education, self-study, seminars, and attainment of professional designations
Ability to work extended hours when necessary
Proficient computer knowledge including, but not limited to, all aspects of Microsoft Office
Essential Functions:
Effectively market our Standard Business products to our retail agents
Meet personal and team sales targets
Prospect, develop, and maintain effective producer relationships, emphasizing superior service for the generation of company income
Conduct a determined number of agency visits (physical or phone/video) per month to cultivate relationships and to uncover opportunities. Enter the visit details in ALIS.
Evaluate and identify exposures, needs & opportunities, and pair with the correct markets for terms
Provide expertise and intelligence regarding specific industries, coverages, markets, and forms
Negotiate the best terms and coverages available with accessible markets while properly communicating with all producers regarding submissions and decisions for new or renewal business in a timely manner. Receive and respond to calls/requests concerning problems, delays, discrepancies, etc. and provide resolution so that all parties are satisfied
Continue to work to improve technical skills through increased experience, formal education, self-study, seminars, and attainment of professional designations
Collaborate with retail agents in making sales presentations to insureds
Develop strong carrier relationships and knowledge
Research accounts and generate or follow through on those sales leads/submissions
Maintain new business growth via production goals while also maintaining a renewal book (when applicable)
Collaborate and work effectively within the Standard Business team and across department lines
Mentor and develop staff
Performs other duties as assigned
