Instructors are responsible for creating and implementing curriculum and lessons for K-12 students in STEM and other topics. They must manage supplies and supervise minors while collaborating with the Youth Program Director and staff.
Applicants generally need an advanced degree in a relevant discipline and prior teaching experience is strongly preferred. Mandatory background clearances and the ability to work in-person during the summer session are required.

Penn State Abington seeks to hire part-time Youth Program instructors for grades K-12 from June 2027 through August 2027. Topics to be taught include STEM programming, arts, writing, leadership and soft skills, wellness, and others.
Instructors are responsible for assisting with creating and implementing program curriculum and lessons, managing supplies, and the supervision of minors participating in programs.
Instructors must work collaboratively with the Youth Program Director, Student counselors, and Continuing Education staff to create an inviting, enjoyable and educational environment for students.
Attend team meetings as expected by Youth Program Director.
Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills are required.
Must be outgoing, work well with children, have strong customer service skills, and be a self-starter.
For most openings, an advanced degree in an appropriate discipline, from an accredited institution, is required.
Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred.
Summer instructors are needed for daytime in-person programming from Monday through Thursday June 28 through August 12 2027, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additionally, are required to attend a one-day, in-person staff orientation at Penn State Abington, scheduled between June 21st and June 25th, prior to the start of the camp sessions. Should there be any conflicts during this time frame, we can address them further during the interview.
To be considered for this opening, applicants must apply online and submit a resume including any teaching experience, and cover letter stating the types of programs that you interested in teaching.
Instructors will be required to attend a mandatory staff orientation prior to the camp season.
Scope of youth programs are dependent on course content and vary in length. Multiple vacancies are available for various programs. Employment is also contingent upon adequate student enrollment in the Youth Programs.
