Coordinate campus safety by dispatching field officers via two-way radio and managing all departmental telephone communications. Maintain detailed shift logs and implement emergency procedures by contacting necessary services.

Requirements

Candidates must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications. Physical requirements include 20/20 correctable vision and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Full job description

Position: Campus Safety Dispatcher (Full Time) 

To act as a communications center coordinator to maintain campus safety and security.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years old or older

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

  • Must obtain and maintain standard first aid and CPR certification by then end of first semester of employment

  • Trustworthy

  • Must possess and demonstrate good oral and written communication skills

  • Must be available to work flexible hours including nighttime and weekend hours

  • Must be in good physical condition, have eyesight correctable to 20/20, and be able to work in all weather conditions

  • Must successfully complete training program prior to final appointment

  • Must pass criminal history background check

  • Must be able to go up and down flights of stairs

  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds

  • Must pass Aquinas College Approved Driver check

  • Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations

Essential Job Functions:

  • Relay pertinent information to various personnel when it concerns responsibilities to the Department

  • Dispatch and coordinate field officers via two way radio

  • Handle all telephone communications to the department

  • Handle college switchboard

  • Implement emergency procedures as necessary, including contacting emergency services

  • Record all shift activity on departmental log

  • Type criminal complaints, maintenance requests, letters, memorandums, etc.

  • Maintain log of Request Not To Tickets

  • Relay pertinent information to shift personnel, including but not limited to keeping field officers informed of events and responsibilities

  • File reports, vehicle registrations, and traffic citations

  • Provide general information to students and visitors

  • Option to cross train as patrol officer

  • Monitor security systems on computer and cameras
