How Superchat cut time-to-hire to 21 days

Superchat was growing fast and hiring faster. The applications kept coming; the right people didn't. Clera replaced the funnel with introductions, and the next Software Engineer signed in three weeks.

About Superchat

Superchat is a Berlin messaging platform founded in 2020. It pulls WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Google Business, Telegram, webchat, email and SMS into a single inbox, so teams answer customers in one place instead of eight.

The company raised a €13.6M Series A led by Blossom Capital, with 468 Capital participating, and has grown to around 100 people. Growing that fast means hiring constantly.

Why introductions, not applications

Every open role brought hundreds of applications. The team had no shortage of candidates. They had a shortage of time to read them.

“
A lot of applications, a lot of screening, a lot of interviews. And just not finding what we're looking for.

Every application costs someone an hour they should have spent building the product. At the end of the week the shortlist still didn't contain the right person.

Clera at the front of Superchat's hiring

Instead of a pipeline to sort through, Superchat got introductions. Clera sourced against the brief and delivered matched candidates straight into Slack, one at a time, with the reasoning attached. Accept or decline, and the next batch retunes.

Hiring stopped being a project the team had to carve time out for. It became a message they answered.

Why Clera

Four things made Clera the right fit for a team with no recruiter and no time to spare.

Introductions, not applications
Every profile is sourced against the brief and matched before it reaches the team. Nothing arrives unscreened.
One decision per candidate
Profiles land in Slack with the reasoning attached. Accept or decline. No dashboard, no pipeline to maintain.
Calibration that compounds
Every accept and decline tightens the next batch, so the search sharpens while it runs instead of after it ends.
No cost until it works
No retainer and no upfront fee. Clera is paid 15%, only when a hire signs.

Impact and results

  • 10 matched profiles delivered in the first week
  • 1 hire, a Software Engineer, out of that first batch
  • 21 days from brief to signed offer
  • Zero job posts and zero screening rounds run by the team
  1. Day 0

    The brief goes over

One conversation to set the target. No job post, no pipeline to build.

  2. Days 1–7

    Ten profiles land in Slack

One at a time, reasoning attached. Each decision retunes the search.

  3. Day 21

    Offer signed

A Software Engineer joins Superchat and the search closes.

“
Clera makes it super frictionless to find the right candidates.
