About Tobias
After studying Chemical Engineering at TU Dresden and earning my degree as a Dipl.-Chem.-Ing., I quickly discovered my entrepreneurial spirit. During my studies, I developed the web-based "ChemTics" toolkit and, together with a fellow student, won the ChemCar competition in 2012. These achievements laid the foundation for my career, which led me to work as a research associate at TU Dresden and as a researcher at Lonza in Switzerland.
In 2014, I founded SupraTix GmbH with the support of an EXIST start-up grant. As Managing Director, I lead a company that develops AI-based solutions, cloud software, and platforms like SupraWorx, SimulateOS, and openReactor—creating digital ecosystems for learning and working. Additionally, I serve as Interim CEO for two spin-offs focused on Cyber Resilience and E-Learning (Course Compose).
My drive for innovation extends beyond business development into research. I have published several scientific papers and hold a patent for a method of adaptive and optimizing process control. This invention enhances the efficiency of chemical processes by integrating multiple subprocess simulations.
My leadership style is defined by customer orientation, direct communication, and a collaborative approach. I firmly believe that digitalization projects should not follow a "We’re building an app" mindset but instead focus on delivering lasting value for end users. That’s why we involve our customers as partners in every development process. Regular feedback allows us to create tailored solutions that perfectly align with their needs. Als Mitglied des Begleitgremiums im Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Chemnitz besteht meine Aufgabe vor allem darin, die Arbeit des Konsortiums strategisch zu begleiten und beratend zu unterstützen. Ich bringe mein Fachwissen sowie meine Erfahrung in die Bewertung geplanter Maßnahmen und Projekte ein, um deren praktische Relevanz für kleine und mittlere Unternehmen sicherzustellen und gezielt Impulse zur Angebots- und Leistungsentwicklung zu geben. Gleichzeitig fördere ich den Austausch zwischen Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft und Verwaltung, indem ich Kontakte zu wichtigen Stakeholdern herstelle, Netzwerkstrukturen weiter ausbaue und so die notwendige Basis für erfolgreiche Digitalisierungsinitiativen stärke. Darüber hinaus unterstütze ich bei der Qualitätssicherung sowie bei der Erfolgskontrolle der umgesetzten Projekte, um sicherzustellen, dass die Angebote stets anwendungsorientiert sind und nachhaltig Wirkung entfalten. Auch bei der Planung und Durchführung von Veranstaltungen oder der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit trage ich dazu bei, die Sichtbarkeit des Zentrums zu erhöhen und Informationen über Förder- und Beratungsangebote effektiv an Unternehmen und Interessierte zu vermitteln. Insgesamt leiste ich durch meine Tätigkeit im Begleitgremium einen wesentlichen Beitrag dazu, die Digitalisierung im regionalen Mittelstand voranzutreiben, den Wissenstransfer zu fördern und die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung langfristig zu unterstützen.

As a DigComp 2.2 CoP Member at Supratix GmbH, I am actively involved in the development and dissemination of the European Digital Competence Framework, commonly referred to as DigComp. My role, which I've been fulfilling since June 2021, is integral to bringing the DigComp standards to over 3.5 million users worldwide. This task requires not only a deep understanding of the framework but also the ability to effectively communicate and implement these standards across various user groups. DigComp is an essential tool for enhancing digital competence among European citizens. In today's digital age, being digitally competent is crucial, as it encompasses a broad range of skills and knowledge. The DigComp framework outlines 21 competencies in its conceptual reference model, which are detailed in the report DigComp 2.0. Additionally, DigComp 2.1 elaborates on the eight proficiency levels, providing practical examples and applications. These proficiency levels are creatively explained through an infographic that uses the metaphor of "Learning to swim in the digital ocean," illustrating the progressive nature of acquiring digital skills. In my role, I engage with various stakeholders, including educational institutions, businesses, and policy-makers, to integrate the DigComp framework into their digital literacy initiatives. This involves conducting workshops, creating educational materials, and providing guidance on how to adapt the framework to suit different learning environments and needs. Furthermore, I am involved in ongoing discussions and collaborations with the European Commission and other members of the DigComp community of practice. These collaborations are vital for staying updated on the latest developments in digital education and competence frameworks. They also allow for sharing best practices, addressing challenges, and exploring innovative approaches to digital literacy.

During my internship at Lonza, I delved into the tools and concepts associated with Process Analytical Technology (PAT). My work involved a comprehensive exploration of PAT, starting with its historical context and progressing to various measurement and analysis methods. This journey spanned almost the entire process, highlighting how the PAT framework integrates into practical application. A significant part of my role included explaining spectroscopic and other measurement methods used in different stages of the process. Understanding and applying these techniques were crucial for effectively utilizing the PAT framework. Additionally, I addressed the challenges inherent to PAT, offering insights into their management and solutions. One of my key projects involved conducting a feasibility study for the implementation of an online NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) measuring device. This study was a critical step in understanding the practical aspects of integrating advanced analytical technologies into existing processes. Another pivotal part of my work was the implementation and installation of a Raman spectroscopy method in a production facility. This task required not only technical expertise but also an understanding of the operational environment to ensure successful integration. Lastly, I analyzed a crystallization process, applying the principles and tools of PAT to enhance understanding and control of this critical aspect of production. This project demonstrated the practical application of PAT in improving process efficiency and product quality. Throughout my internship, I gained valuable experience in applying PAT in real-world scenarios, contributing to process optimization and quality control in the pharmaceutical industry.
