Since the German capital market is becoming more and more attractive especially for activist hedge funds, it is essential to understand the impact activist shareholders have on public firms. Since the existing literature is not able to answer this question consistently, I would like to close large parts of this knowledge gap. I hypothesise that activist shareholders have a positive abnormal stock effect on target companies. At the same time these shareholders have a positive effect on operative measures of target companies as well.
