About this role
Does it excite you to run the platforms that let an entire organization build with agentic AI, and do you have the engineering depth to operate them in production while staying close to the teams that depend on them? If this sounds like you, and you are ready to take on a broad area of responsibilities, then you could be our new colleague.
Your new position
As our Senior AI Engineer you will play a leading role in shaping how AI agents come to life at Zealand Pharma - from running and evolving our Claude platform day-to-day, to building the developer platform and connectors that let agentic AI safely tap into our enterprise systems and data. You'll set the paved road for teams building on top of it, partner closely with the business to turn great ideas into proven use cases, and help define where our Data & AI journey goes next.
We offer exciting responsibilities:
- Run and evolve our Claude platform in daily operation, covering technical Claude skills, configuration, connectors, monitoring, and user support, to agreed service and support standards
- Design, build, and operate the developer platform capabilities that enable agentic AI, including model access, MCP servers, shared tooling, and reusable patterns, and take a leading role in the platforms we implement next
- Build and maintain the connectors and services that expose enterprise systems, document repositories, and scientific data to agents, with identity, permissions, and secure data access handled by design
- Provide the paved road for teams building on the platforms, through SDKs, templates, CI/CD pipelines, and documentation, together with the evaluation, observability, and guardrail tooling that makes agentic solutions measurable and responsible in production
- Engage line-of-business stakeholders to qualify demand, build the value case, and deliver selected reference use cases that prove the platforms and turn recurring needs into shared capabilities
- Partner with the Cloud Infrastructure and Cyber Security teams on solutions that are secure by design, mentoring colleagues, and contribute to the technical direction of the Data & AI portfolio
Your profile
You are an experienced engineer with business acumen, seeing internal builders and business colleagues as important customers. You're comfortable owning both build and run -from first conversation to production, support, and continuous improvement. You explain technical trade-offs in business terms and know what belongs in the platform, and what doesn't. As a person, you're generous with knowledge, pragmatic about technology, and always attentive to security and responsible AI use.
- Substantial experience designing, building, and operating platforms or shared services in production, including day-to-day operation, user support, and integrations against enterprise systems and APIs; hands-on experience with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a strong advantage
- Deep, hands-on understanding of agentic AI systems, including tool calling, orchestration and multi-step agent patterns, retrieval and context design, evaluation methods, and the typical failure modes of each
- Strong software and platform engineering practices, including architecture, testing, code reviews, CI/CD, observability, and operating what you build; solid Python proficiency is required, and .NET experience is a plus
- Sound knowledge of cloud-native services, container-based workflows, infrastructure as code, and identity and secure data access patterns; Azure experience is a plus
- Experience from the BioPharma industry or familiarity with GxP processes is an advantage; front-end development experience, ideally React, is a nice-to-have
