Location: YMCA at Alexandria
Compensation: $17 -$20 an per hour
Schedule: Part-Time | Mornings/Evening Hours | School Year
The YMCA at Alexandria is hiring dedicated and enthusiastic Group Leader II for our School Age Child Care program. This is a meaningful opportunity to positively impact children’s lives in a supportive and collaborative afterschool environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and engage school-age children in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities
- Create a safe and stimulating environment for all participants
- Provide guidance and positive behavior support
- Maintain communication with families and program staff
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times
- Reports concerns, conflicts, or other problems directly to the supervisor
- Assists with parent/community council yearly calendar
- Assists with holiday giving program, clothing drive, and emergency food pantry
- Supports and participates in community events
- Attends parent/child events as required
- Makes outreach and reminder phone calls
Qualifications:
- Experience working with elementary-middle aged children in a school or childcare setting
- High school diploma or GED required; relevant coursework or degree preferred
- Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities is valued.
Schedule:
- Monday-Friday
- Before Care 6:30am-8:00am and or
- After Care 2:30pm-6:30pm
