Location: YMCA at Alexandria
Compensation: $17 -$20 an per hour
Schedule: Part-Time | Mornings/Evening Hours | School Year

The YMCA at Alexandria is hiring dedicated and enthusiastic Group Leader II for our School Age Child Care program. This is a meaningful opportunity to positively impact children’s lives in a supportive and collaborative afterschool environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and engage school-age children in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities
  • Create a safe and stimulating environment for all participants
  • Provide guidance and positive behavior support
  • Maintain communication with families and program staff
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times
  • Reports concerns, conflicts, or other problems directly to the supervisor 
  • Assists with parent/community council yearly calendar 
  • Assists with holiday giving program, clothing drive, and emergency food pantry 
  • Supports and participates in community events 
  • Attends parent/child events as required 
  • Makes outreach and reminder phone calls  

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with elementary-middle aged children in a school or childcare setting
  • High school diploma or GED required; relevant coursework or degree preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities is valued.

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday
  • Before Care 6:30am-8:00am and or
  • After Care 2:30pm-6:30pm
