You know the difference between replacing a part and actually finding the problem.

You can work through an electrical fault, hydraulic issue, intermittent failure, or mechanical problem without needing someone to hand you every next step.

And when you're working at a customer's facility, you understand that how you communicate matters almost as much as how you repair the equipment.

WMH Solutions is hiring an experienced Field Service Technician to support customers throughout Madison, Huntsville, and the surrounding North Alabama territory.

Forklift experience is a plus β€” but it is not required.

If your background is in heavy equipment, diesel repair, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, industrial maintenance, fleet service, mobile hydraulics, aerial equipment, cranes, military maintenance, or other complex equipment repair, we want to hear from you.

If you already know how to diagnose equipment, we'll help you learn the material handling side.

Why Technicians Choose WMH

Experienced technicians don't need another list of vague promises.

They want to know they'll have the equipment, training, support, compensation, and independence to do their job well β€” without sacrificing every evening and weekend to do it.

At WMH, technicians receive:

βœ… Competitive Hourly Pay + Technician Incentives

βœ… Take-Home Service Van

βœ… Paid Travel Time

βœ… Company Fuel Card

βœ… Tool Allowance

βœ… Safety Boot Allowance

βœ… Cell Phone Allowance

βœ… Paid Linde Material Handling OEM Training

βœ… Ongoing Technical Training

βœ… Laptop + Diagnostic Software

βœ… Company Uniforms

βœ… Medical, Dental & Vision Coverage

βœ… 401(k) with Company Match

βœ… Profit Sharing

βœ… Paid Time Off + Paid Holidays

βœ… Short- & Long-Term Disability

βœ… Company-Paid Life Insurance

βœ… Stable, Year-Round Work

βœ… Career Growth Within a Multi-Location Service Organization

This is a full-time field service position supporting customers throughout Madison, Huntsville, and the surrounding North Alabama market.

Your normal schedule is Monday through Friday during daytime hours.

Because our customers depend on their equipment to keep operations moving, technicians may occasionally participate in limited or rotating after-hours and on-call coverage when customer needs require it.

This is not designed to be an every-night or every-weekend service model.

You'll also have a take-home service van, allowing you to begin and end your field-service day without unnecessarily reporting to the branch for every service call.

Travel time is paid in accordance with WMH's field-service practices and applicable requirements.

What You'll Do

As a Field Service Technician, you'll spend most of your day helping customers keep their equipment operating safely, efficiently, and reliably.

You'll:

β€’ Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, fuel, engine, and drivetrain systems

β€’ Troubleshoot equipment using diagnostic tools, schematics, service information, and hands-on testing

β€’ Identify root causes of complex or recurring equipment failures

β€’ Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled service

β€’ Complete field repairs at customer locations throughout your assigned territory

β€’ Inspect equipment and identify necessary maintenance or repairs

β€’ Complete warranty and manufacturer-authorized repairs when applicable

β€’ Explain equipment conditions, findings, and repair recommendations clearly to customers

β€’ Maintain accurate service documentation and repair records

β€’ Manage tools, parts, and inventory assigned to your service van

β€’ Work independently while partnering with WMH technical resources and service leadership when additional support is needed

β€’ Represent WMH professionally and safely at customer locations

You'll service a variety of material handling and industrial equipment, including:

β€’ Electric forklifts
β€’ Internal combustion forklifts
β€’ Reach trucks
β€’ Order pickers
β€’ Pallet jacks
β€’ Stackers
β€’ Tow tractors
β€’ Warehouse equipment
β€’ Industrial batteries and charging systems
β€’ Hydraulic systems
β€’ Industrial engines
β€’ Transmission and drivetrain systems
β€’ Electrical and electronic systems
β€’ PLC-controlled equipment
β€’ Other material handling equipment

No two service calls are exactly alike.

For the right technician, that's part of what makes field service interesting.

You do not need to come from a forklift dealership to build a successful career with WMH.

We actively consider technicians from backgrounds such as:
Heavy Equipment
Diesel Trucks & Engines
Construction Equipment
Agricultural Equipment
Industrial Maintenance
Fleet Maintenance
Truck Repair
Mobile Hydraulics
Aerial Lifts
Crane Service
Utility Equipment
Generators & Compressors
Military Vehicle / Equipment Maintenance
Manufacturing Equipment

If you understand how mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems work β€” and you're good at figuring out why they aren't working β€” your experience may transfer extremely well.

We'll provide the material handling and Linde-specific training.

We're primarily looking for professional equipment-repair experience, mechanical aptitude, and strong diagnostic ability β€” not one specific rΓ©sumΓ©.

β€’ 3+ years of professional technician, mechanic, field service, diesel, heavy equipment, industrial maintenance, or closely related experience

β€’ Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability

β€’ Hydraulic-system diagnosis and repair experience

β€’ Electrical troubleshooting experience, including meters, wiring, schematics, sensors, and related components

β€’ Engine or powertrain repair experience

β€’ Ability to diagnose root causes rather than simply replace parts

β€’ Comfortable working independently in the field

β€’ Strong customer communication skills

β€’ Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable for company vehicle use

β€’ Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of field-service work

Candidates with less tenure but strong electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, or equipment-diagnostic skills are also encouraged to apply.

The Technicians Who Do Best Here

Our strongest technicians tend to have a few things in common.

They:

βœ“ Want to understand why equipment failed β€” not just which part failed

βœ“ Take pride in fixing problems correctly the first time

βœ“ Balance productivity with quality workmanship

βœ“ Know when to work independently and when to use additional technical resources

βœ“ Communicate clearly with customers

βœ“ Keep accurate service records

βœ“ Treat safety as part of the repair β€” not an extra step

βœ“ Take ownership of their territory, van, tools, and customer relationships

βœ“ Continue learning as equipment technology changes

βœ“ Support teammates when their experience can help solve a problem

You don't have to know everything on day one.
You do need to care about figuring it out.
