Winstead PC is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our Dallas office.  Candidates with litigation and transactional experience are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to attorneys.
  • Prepare and edit legal documents and correspondence, saving to the document management system; proofread to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Review, organize, and process client billing in a timely manner.
  • Research and respond to requests for information from attorneys and clients.
  • Enter attorney time; review and revise timesheets accurately.
  • Manage and monitor calendaring of deadlines and key dates.
  • Calendaring and interaction with clients and other contacts regarding meetings and scheduling.
  • Coordinate business travel arrangements.
  • Organize electronic and physical files; maintain systems to promote organization and efficiency.
  • Prepare conflict of interest checks and open new client files.
  • Prepare engagement letters and conflict waivers.
  • Coordinate with Audit Committee to prepare audit responses for clients.
  • Process expense reports/reimbursement requests.
  • Assist assigned attorneys with CLE compliance and business development activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as a legal assistant in a law firm.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Good working knowledge of document management systems; NetDocuments experience is preferred.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Flexibility to work overtime when required.
