What You'll Do
We’re looking for an Advanced R&D Machinist who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys variety in their day, and wants to contribute directly to product innovation to join our R&D team at our Innovation Center in Schiller Park. The Machinist looks at a sketch, visualizes the finished part, and knows exactly how to bring the product to life.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Interpret Specifications: Study sketches, models, and descriptions to determine materials, machining approach, and sequence of operations.
- Plan & Build Tooling: Compute dimensions, plan layouts, determine assembly methods, and build tooling to spec within scheduled timelines.
- Operate CNC & Manual Machines: Run lathes, CNC mills, grinders, cutting tables, and other shop equipment with precision.
- Verify & Improve Designs: Check dimensions, alignment, and clearances; recommend des
- modifications based on function and manufacturability
- Repair, Modify & Prototype: Fabricate prototypes, construct fixtures, sharpen tools, and machine close‑tolerance parts.
- Maintain Equipment: Perform routine maintenance and keep the work area clean and organized.
- Collaborate & Communicate: Work closely with the Prototype Shop Manager and use Wrike to track timelines and updates.
What We're Looking For
This position requires a High school Diploma or GED plus a minimum of 2-5 years of experience setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines.
Other qualifications include:
- Knowledge of MasterCam and SolidWorks
- Ability to resolve day-to-day issues by working effectively with others
- Basic computer skills including competence in using Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to receive, understand, and follow all written and oral instructions
- Excellent interpersonal skills
What We’ll Provide
A reasonable estimate of the pay range is $32-38 per hour at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and/or training. Please note that the range details reflect the base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program.
