Overview of the Assistant Manager of Design role

You will support the management team in achieving business goals. You will maintain presence with sales floor supervision to ensure exceptional service. You will plan, participate, and follow-up with daily clienteling, operational, and visual expectations. You will serve as a role model for building relationships with customers. You will provide training and support, and oversee the development of the stores' design team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the store team to create an exceptional experience for customers and team members.

  • Reinforce customer service principles by coaching in the moment.

  • Meet with the store's design team members weekly to address areas of opportunity, acknowledge growth and successes, and to maximize productivity for designers to meet career objectives. 

  • Utilize training resources to educate team on product, improve selling skills, and achieve sales and service goals.

  • Create and ensure a positive environment where all associates are treated fairly and with dignity in accordance with our People-First Philosophy.

  • Participate in seasonal floor sets, the daily maintenance of visual standards, and the execution of time-bound operational tasks.

  • Ensure timely resolution of client service issues through effective use and management of client information reporting system.

 

Criteria

  • Excellent communication, organization and leadership skills

  • Superior critical thinking skills to identify challenges and develop action plans in a timely manner

  • Ability to provide constructive feedback with a solutions, development approach 

  • Great time management skills and ability to execute multiple tasks and appropriately manage competing priorities

  • 2-3 years of previous retail sales experience or management experience in a customer service related field

 

Physical Requirements

·        Must be able to be mobile on the sales floor for extended periods of time

·        Must be able to lift and mobilize medium to large items, up to 75 lbs., while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques

·        Full time associates are expected to have open availability to meet the needs of the business.
