Weâre looking for a Product Designer to join our Trust & Risk teamâsomeone who is passionate about creating thoughtful, scalable systems that protect buyers and sellers and strengthen trust across our marketplace. In this role, youâll design tools, workflows, and user experiences that help detect policy violations, reduce fraud and abuse, enforce platform decisions with precision and fairness, and support users through education, actioning, and appeals.
Youâll partner closely with product designers, product managers, engineers, operations, data scientists, and policy experts to build solutions that balance safety, speed, and user trust. This could include designing appeals flows, account standing and compliance experiences, internal review and enforcement tools, and real-time interventions during live shows.

Design end-to-end experiences that protect marketplace integrity while minimizing friction for legitimate users
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex policies, workflows, and risk signals into intuitive product experiences
Create wireframes, prototypes, and polished visuals that bring clarity to ambiguous Trust & Risk problems
Design experiences that make enforcement decisions feel clear, fair, human, and actionable
Support internal teams who review reports, moderate content, investigate fraud, and resolve user issues through efficient, usable tooling
Contribute to the broader design system while advocating for accessibility and inclusive user experiences
Use data, research, and feedback to improve existing tools and identify new opportunities to reduce harm and build user trust
You'll report to a Design leader and will have the option to either work from one of our office hubs (LA, SF, NYC, or Seattle) or remote (U.S. only).

People who do well at Whatnot tend to be comfortable figuring things out as they go, biased toward action, and genuinely curious about what they're building. They care more about outcomes than credit and stay close to the product and the people using it.
5+ years of experience in Product Design with a strong portfolio of shipped work.
Strong interaction and systems thinkingâyou can untangle complex flows and design for edge cases
Expertise in design and prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, Protopie, Framer, etc.).
Deep understanding of user experience design principles and methodologies, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Proven experience designing zero-to-one products or new platforms, demonstrating your ability to thrive in ambiguous environments and define new product spaces.
Experience in e-commerce, marketplace platforms, or supply chain management is a plus.
