We are currently searching for a Billing Assistant for the Business Office to work in the Administration Department.  In this role, the Billing Assistant computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records.  We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant with Knowledge of Insurance Billing and Collections.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for billing processes, ensuring accuracy, maintaining records, and providing support to residents and internal departments. This position reports to the Business Office Manager. 

Schedule: Full Time position | Weekdays

Essential position functions:

  1. Responsible for posting cash receipts accurately in current billing system.
  2. Responsible for assisting in review of aging and making appropriate adjustments to the correct payer. Follow up on past due balances as identified on the aging.
  3. Assist the Business Office Manager with processing payroll on a bi-weekly basis. Process payroll reports in current payroll system.
  4. Open and distribute daily mail, Data-entry including updating resident demographic information in current billing system.
  5. Assist residents and/or responsible party in reviewing billing questions related to charges reflected on the monthly statement of account.
  6. Responsible to assist in maintain accurate census in current billing system. 
  7. Verify all insurance type payers. Obtain authorization as required by payers. Billing and mailing of coinsurance claims to payers timely.

Qualifications: 

  1. High School -or- equivalent 

Experience:

  1. 2 years related experience 
  2. Excel and data entry skills

Required Skills:

  1. Ability to analyze and resolve billing issues
  2. Strong organizational and communication skills
  3. Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  4. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently 
  5. Medicare billing experience required, Skilled Nursing Billing required (2 years minimum).
