About this role

The Outside Maintenance Labourer is primarily responsible for the external maintenance and upkeep of West Edmonton Mall’s parking lots and sidewalks. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for garbage pickup & removal, and parking lot maintenance including patrolling parking lots on a daily basis looking for and removing debris outside garbage cans and ashtrays. 
  • Changing garbage cans, ash trays and planters when required and washing garbage cans, ashtrays, windows, signs and call boxes.
  • Ensure all areas outside the mall are well kept, clean, and free from debris which will include shoveling snow from walkways, cleaning up leaves, removing gravel, weeds and dirt. 
  • Small equipment operation required in maintaining walkways and parking lots including backpack blower, snow blower, power broom and hand tools.
  • Installation, maintenance, cleaning and replacement of door decals and walk off matting when required.  
  • Other external maintenance for West Edmonton Mall as required. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Able to stand and walk for long periods of time while bending, kneeling, climbing lifting, and performing other activities necessary for West Edmonton Mall’s external maintenance.
  • Able to lift and carry 23Kgs (50lbs) and have a valid Class 5 Drivers License.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Ability to work at heights and in harsh climate conditions for extended periods of time. 
  • Previous experience in an outdoor work setting, doing laborer work, or similar in nature. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • This is a full-time position that requires availability on days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to provide a 3-year Driver’s Abstract.
  • This position has a start rate of $18.60/hour
  • Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
