Key Responsibilities
Compliance Monitoring & Controls
- Support the operation of Wallester’s Compliance function in accordance with the company’s compliance governance framework.
- Conduct compliance monitoring activities and internal controls in accordance with the Compliance monitoring framework and assigned areas of responsibility.
- Identify, assess and report compliance risks and potential deficiencies.
- Document control findings, propose appropriate remediation measures and follow up on agreed corrective actions.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of measures designed to mitigate identified compliance risks.
Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor and interpret applicable laws, regulations, regulatory guidelines and relevant payment scheme requirements.
- Conduct regulatory gap analyses and assess the impact of new or amended requirements on Wallester’s products, services, systems and internal processes.
- Translate regulatory requirements into practical compliance requirements and support their implementation across the organisation.
- Identify and assess risks arising from actual or potential non-compliance.
Risk Assessments & Business Advisory
- Conduct compliance risk assessments of new and existing products, services, business projects and third-party arrangements.
- Provide proactive compliance advice and support to business functions during the development or modification of products, services and processes.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and ensure relevant compliance considerations are identified and addressed.
Policies & Procedures
- Develop, review and maintain compliance-related policies, procedures, methodologies and other internal documentation.
- Support the timely implementation of regulatory changes within Wallester’s internal regulatory framework.
- Review business processes and internal documentation from a compliance perspective and provide recommendations where necessary.
Regulatory Reporting & Communication
- Support the Head of Compliance and other relevant stakeholders in responding to requests from supervisory authorities, auditors and other relevant external parties.
- Assist with the preparation of regulatory responses, reports, notifications and supporting documentation.
- Collect, analyse and structure information required for compliance reporting and regulatory engagements.
- Clearly communicate compliance findings, risks and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
Training & Awareness
- Develop and maintain compliance training and awareness materials.
- Support or deliver internal training on relevant regulatory and compliance topics.
- Ensure relevant stakeholders are informed about material regulatory developments, new compliance obligations and applicable best practices.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Legal, Risk Management, AML, Information Security, Product, Operations and other relevant functions.
- Contribute compliance expertise to company-wide initiatives and projects.
- Perform other compliance-related responsibilities assigned by the direct manager.
Requirements
Experience & knowledge
- At least 2 years of previous professional experience in regulatory compliance, financial services, FinTech, banking, payments, legal, risk management or another relevant regulated environment.
- Good understanding of regulatory compliance principles and internal control frameworks.
- Experience in interpreting regulatory requirements and translating them into practical business requirements.
- Experience with compliance monitoring, internal controls, gap analyses, risk assessments, policy/procedure development or regulatory reporting is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of the regulatory framework applicable to payment institutions, electronic money institutions or other financial institutions is an advantage.
- Familiarity with areas such as payment services regulation, DORA/ICT third-party risk, consumer protection, data protection, outsourcing/third-party management or payment scheme requirements is an advantage.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex regulatory requirements and assess their practical impact.
- Ability to draft clear, structured and high-quality policies, procedures, assessments and regulatory responses.
- Strong attention to detail while maintaining an understanding of the broader business and regulatory context.
- Ability to independently manage assigned responsibilities, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Confidence in communicating compliance risks and requirements to stakeholders across different functions and levels of seniority.
- Proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership of compliance matters from identification through to resolution.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment where regulatory and business priorities may change.
Languages & education
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Estonian is a strong advantage, particularly for working with local legislation and supervisory requirements.
- Higher education in law, finance, economics, business administration, risk management or another relevant field is preferred.
