About this role

We are seeking a VP of IT Operations to own how technology is delivered and supported across Vytalize and the practices we manage. This role leads IT as a shared service of our MSO - defining the standards, systems, and support model that our corporate teams and affiliated practices run on, and integrating new practices onto that platform as we grow. You will own IT service delivery, infrastructure and cloud operations, endpoint and identity management, and the operating model behind them, in an environment where PHI touches nearly everything we do.

The ideal candidate has led IT across a multi-entity or multi-site organization, has integrated acquired or affiliated groups onto standard systems, and understands that supporting a physician practice is different from supporting a corporate office. This is a leadership role for someone who is equally credible presenting to executives, walking a practice manager through a cutover, and reviewing an escalation with an engineer.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the IT operating model for the MSO, defining which services are delivered centrally to managed practices and how they are standardized, supported, and measured.

  • Lead IT integration of newly acquired and affiliated practices, including discovery, network and connectivity, identity, endpoints, application access, and cutover to Vytalize standards.

  • Own the end-user experience across corporate, clinical, and practice-based users, including service desk, endpoint management, onboarding/offboarding, and escalation.

  • Build and mature ITSM processes for incident, request, problem, and change management within Jira Service Management.

  • Define and report on operational metrics, including resolution times, uptime, CSAT, and first-contact resolution, across both corporate and practice environments.

  • Oversee core infrastructure, cloud operations, identity and access management, and endpoint security across multiple entities.

  • Establish and enforce IT standards for practice sites, including hardware, connectivity, access, and support expectations.

  • Own business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing for systems clinical teams and practices depend on.

  • Partner with Enterprise Applications and Data teams on the systems practices rely on day to day, including EHR access and clinical workflow tooling.

  • Partner with Information Security and Compliance on audit readiness, evidence collection, and remediation.

  • Ensure IT operations meet HIPAA, HITRUST, and SOC 2 requirements across all entities, building compliance into process rather than bolting it on.

  • Manage the IT budget, vendor relationships, and third-party support arrangements that underpin service delivery.

  • Lead and grow the internal IT team, and build the support model that scales as practices are added.

  • Serve as the senior IT voice to executive leadership and partner cross-functionally with Clinical, Practice Operations, People Operations, and Corporate Development.

  • Translate business priorities into an IT operating roadmap that scales with headcount, practices, and markets.

What will make you successful here:

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic environment

  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across teams

  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, a sense of ownership and comfortable operating in ambiguity

  • Solution-oriented with the ability to think strategically and creatively in decision-making

  • Strong work ethic to exceed expectations and goals

  • Coachable and able to take direction and feedback well, yet being forward-thinking to challenge the status quo

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality

  • Able to communicate technical topics clearly to executive, clinical, and non-technical audiences

Additional Duties:

  • In coordination with the Information Security Team, ensure applications are securely configured and maintained with secure authentication mechanisms and role-based access, and support access reviews in accordance with the Identity Management, Authentication and Access Control and Data and Platform Security policies.

  • Adhere to and enforce the Change Management policy, which includes documenting, reviewing, and obtaining approval for all normal and emergency changes prior to deployment. Teams must submit a change request, ensure an information security impact assessment is completed, conduct and/or coordinate pre-implementation, and ensure approvals are in place prior to implementation.

  • In conjunction with Information Security, ensure hardening standard configurations are applied, and vulnerabilities are remediated in accordance with the Vulnerability Management policy.

  • Ensure firewall configurations align with Data and Platform Security policies, including documentation with justifications for all rule changes, removal of obsolete rules, and participation in information security firewall rule reviews.

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date inventories of hardware, software, and cloud assets are maintained throughout their lifecycle — from acquisition to decommissioning. Ensure assets are classified, assigned to owners, tracked in approved systems, and aligned with information security policies.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in IT operations, with 5+ years leading teams

  • Experience delivering IT as a shared service across multiple entities, sites, or business units

  • Demonstrated experience integrating acquired or affiliated organizations onto standard IT systems

  • Experience running IT through significant company growth

  • Deep experience with Microsoft 365 administration at scale, including Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, including identity (Entra ID), access management, and cloud operations

  • Experience with AWS cloud operations

  • Experience with endpoint management platforms, including Intune (Windows) and Jamf (macOS)

  • Strong ITSM background with demonstrated ownership of ITIL-aligned incident, request, problem, and change management; ITIL certification preferred

  • Fluency with ITSM tooling; Jira Service Management experience strongly preferred

  • Experience operating in a regulated environment with formal audit and control requirements

  • Budget ownership and vendor management experience

  • Healthcare experience strongly preferred, including MSO, physician practice, value-based care, or ACO environments

  • Familiarity with the healthcare application landscape, including EHR platforms and integrations, clinical systems, and payer data feeds, preferred

  • Experience supporting distributed clinical sites and a fully remote corporate workforce preferred

  • Acknowledge patient's rights on confidentiality issues and follow HIPAA guidelines and regulations
