About this role
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for overseeing and coordinating inventory control and logistics activities involving parts, supplies, equipment, shipping, receiving, setup, and warehouse operations.
This role is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring inventory levels and movement, coordinating outbound logistics, supporting month-end activities, and ensuring inventory-related processes are completed accurately and on time.
The Inventory Control Specialist will also monitor key performance indicators, investigate inventory variances, identify root causes of operational issues, and work with Procurement, Sales, Warehouse, and other teams to develop solutions that improve inventory efficiency and support business objectives
- Coordinate inventory control and logistics activities involving parts, supplies, equipment, shipping, receiving, setup, and warehouse operations.
- Develop work plans, prioritize assignments, and coordinate inventory-related activities to ensure operational deadlines and business requirements are met.
- Implement and reinforce company procedures, standard operating procedures, and inventory control practices while identifying opportunities for process improvement.
- Oversee inventory activities across on-site and off-site warehouse locations, ensuring inventory is properly tracked, organized, and accounted for.
- Plan and coordinate outbound logistics, including the movement and transportation of finished goods and other inventory.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, variance investigations, quarterly physical inventories, and annual physical inventories.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and develop and implement corrective action plans to prevent recurring issues.
- Monitor inventory-related KPIs and visual controls, communicate performance and trends to management, and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare and provide inventory control, logistics, and operational reports as requested by leadership.
- Support month-end processes, including tracking orders for billing, clearing inventory from bins, reviewing applicable inventory reports, and completing RTV reviews.
- Manage accountability for lease returns, ensuring equipment is returned within required timelines and that E-automate accurately reflects equipment status, condition, and warehouse location.
- Validate that inventory receipts and inventory-related activities are properly scanned and documented in DocRecords.
- Manage the Area OTI process and maintain accountability for monthly revenue commitments.
- Partner with Sales Management to identify opportunities involving backorders, reserved inventory, and slow-moving inventory, providing reporting and recommendations to support business decisions.
- Work closely with Procurement to monitor inventory levels, identify inventory challenges, and support broader company inventory strategies.
- Review damages, defective inventory, and reserve write-offs on a quarterly basis and ensure appropriate processes are followed.
- Collaborate with internal teams and business partners to resolve inventory and logistics issues and maintain strong operational relationships.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of inventory transactions and activities.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
- Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
- Strong business acumen with a broad understanding of inventory control, supply chain operations, logistics, warehouse operations, and business processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple inventory and logistics activities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and accountability.
- Working knowledge of inventory control procedures, standard operating procedures, FIFO practices, and inventory management processes.
- Experience working with E-automate or a comparable ERP/inventory management system strongly preferred.
- Experience working with electronic documentation systems such as DocRecords preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify operational issues, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies in inventory records, transactions, documentation, and reporting.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing assignments, manage deadlines, and maintain a high sense of urgency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees, leadership, vendors, and business partners at various organizational levels.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive relationships with local, regional, and national teams.
- Ability to make sound, data-informed decisions and address deviations from established goals and processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Experience working with relational databases, ERP systems, inventory management systems, and shipping/logistics platforms.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- A continuous-improvement mindset with an interest in finding ways to make inventory and logistics processes more efficient, accurate, and scalable.
