Job Summary

In this role, the RN aligns with an MD or group of MD’s to provide care for a population of patients associated with the MD’s across the continuum of care. The role of the RN includes care of outpatients as the MD aligned practice nurse as well as care of patients in the acute care and procedural settings. Nurses functioning in this job description must be credentialed by the Vanderbilt Licensed Nurse Credentialing Committee (LNCC). Nurses in this expanded RN role practice within the regulatory standards established by the Tennessee Board of Nursing. Nurse functioning in this expanded RN role must have the medical aspects of a patients care governed by “written medical protocols” that have been jointly developed by the nurse and sponsoring physician. In addition, an expanded RN role requires “demonstrated ability” to perform those expanded RN functions.

 



Basic Qualifications:

 

This position requires graduation from an approved program of professional nursing (RN) and 10 years cardiovascular experience.
