Reports To: Traffic Control Superintendent

Position Mission

Lead a cluster of traffic control projects by ensuring every work zone is set up safely, accurately, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards. Develop and mentor technicians, proactively solve field challenges, and provide the leadership necessary to allow the Superintendent to focus on overall operations and project success. As a Crew Lead, you set the example for safety, professionalism, and performance while preparing for future advancement into a Superintendent role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate daily operations across approximately four active job sites and supervise a team of four to five Traffic Control Technicians.
  • Take ownership of traffic control setups in complex work zones, including high-speed roadways, arterial streets, and freeway environments.
  • Ensure all traffic control devices and work zone configurations meet project plans, MUTCD requirements, and company safety standards.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate Technician I employees; provide field coaching and sign off on competency requirements as appropriate.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by identifying hazards, correcting unsafe conditions, and ensuring compliance with all safety procedures.
  • Proactively communicate equipment shortages, plan discrepancies, scheduling conflicts, and safety concerns before they impact operations.
  • Serve as the primary field leader for assigned projects, making informed decisions to keep work progressing efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, inspections, and communication with supervisors, project teams, and crew members.
  • Support workforce development by helping technicians build the skills necessary for advancement within the organization.
  • Set the standard for professionalism, accountability, and workmanship through daily actions and leadership.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • ATSSA Traffic Control Technician (TCT) certification required.
  • ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) certification preferred or actively in progress.
  • Minimum of 4,000 hours of traffic control field experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading crews, coordinating multiple job sites, and managing work zone safety.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic control plans, traffic control devices, and roadway safety regulations.
  • Effective communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and perform the physical demands of field operations.
