Valley Truck Centers is Ohio's premier source for new and pre-owned heavy-duty and medium-duty trucks. We are seeking an experienced and motivated HR Generalist to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio. This position plays a critical role in supporting employees and leaders while ensuring compliance, fostering positive employee relations, and driving HR initiatives that contribute to organizational success.

Position Summary

The HR Generalist serves as a trusted business partner by providing hands-on support across a broad range of human resources functions, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, training and development, compensation analysis, and policy administration. This role works closely with leadership and employees to create a positive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Compliance & HR Administration

Conduct periodic audits of employee records, personnel files, I-9 documentation, and workplace posting requirements to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
Assist with HR reporting and ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.
Lead the review, maintenance, and communication of HR policies and procedures.

Employee Relations

Serve as a resource for employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
Manage employee relations matters, including workplace disputes, corrective actions, performance concerns, and conflict resolution.
Conduct internal investigations and provide recommendations for resolution.
Partner with leadership to foster a positive, productive, and compliant work environment.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

Support recruiting efforts, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.
Coordinate new hire orientation and ensure a positive onboarding experience.
Assist managers with workforce planning and talent development initiatives.

Benefits & Leave Administration

Administer employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts (FSA), COBRA, workers' compensation, and leave administration.
Respond to employee questions regarding benefits and leave programs.
Coordinate open enrollment activities and benefit communications.

Training & Development

Support employee development and training initiatives.
Assist with organizational development and employee engagement programs.
Partner with management to identify training needs and opportunities for workforce growth.

Compensation Support

Conduct compensation analysis and provide recommendations to support business objectives.
Assist with pay reviews, market analysis, and compensation-related projects.

Business Partnership

Provide daily HR support and guidance to managers and employees.
Partner with leadership on workforce planning, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
Provide backup HR support to other business locations as needed.

QualificationsQualifications

Required

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
Working knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and compliance requirements.
Strong employee relations and conflict resolution skills.
Experience administering employee benefits and leave programs.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Paycom experience helpful

Preferred

PHR, SHRM-CP, or related HR certification.
Multi-location or dealership industry experience.
Experience supporting a manufacturing, transportation, trucking, or automotive environment.
