THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION FUNDED UNTIL JUNE 30, 2028

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Technician 2 performs research in molecular and cell biology in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. 

Responsibilities

  1. Performs biomedical research tasks.
  2. Makes a variety of constructs (including Cas9/CRISPR knockouts, mutant signaling components).
  3. Conducts experiments to satisfy research objectives.
  4. Grows glioma cancer cells and tests them for their sensitivity to radiation and DNA imaging agents.
  5. Evaluates effects on various properties of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo
  6. Communicates with the PI effectively and timely regularly to determine the needs of the laboratory.
  7. Orders all laboratory supplies.
  8. Maintains the lab records of research activities.
  9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: OR a combination of college coursework and work experience to equal four (4) years. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail for record keeping. 
  • Ability to perform general techniques on the molecular and cellular level. 

 

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings.
