As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will play an essential role in maintaining safe, clean, and functional residential facilities that directly support veterans transitioning to stable housing. This position is responsible for facility repairs, preventative maintenance, work order management, vendor coordination, and ensuring residential units are prepared for client move-ins.
This role is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional who takes pride in quality work, problem-solving, and creating a safe environment for the people we serve.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain the safety, cleanliness, and overall condition of residential facilities, buildings, common areas, parking areas, and surrounding grounds
Perform routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance activities
Ensure residential units are move-in ready through inspections, repairs, and preparation activities
Manage and complete facility work orders while prioritizing safety and resident needs
Respond to maintenance requests and provide timely follow-up with residents and staff
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work order documentation, and repair records
Conduct monthly and annual inspections of transitional and affordable housing units
Coordinate with vendors, contractors, property partners, and external agencies regarding facility repairs and services
Assist with troubleshooting building, equipment, plumbing, electrical, appliance, and general maintenance issues
Identify facility improvement needs and provide recommendations to leadership
Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, supplies, and maintenance materials
Submit purchase requests for equipment, parts, and facility supplies
Collaborate with program staff, case managers, and residential teams to support a safe and welcoming environment
Ensure compliance with facility safety standards and organizational requirements
Support emergency maintenance needs and special projects as assigned
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of facilities maintenance, building operations, property maintenance, or related experience
Experience performing general repairs, preventative maintenance, and facility upkeep
Ability to work independently while collaborating with staff, vendors, and community partners
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests and deadlines
Basic computer skills for email, work orders, inventory tracking, and documentation
Ability to communicate effectively with residents, vendors, and internal teams
Valid driver's license with clean driving record and ability to meet company insurance requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in residential housing, affordable housing, shelters, nonprofit facilities, healthcare facilities, or community-based settings
Knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliances, and general repairs
Experience coordinating with contractors and vendors
Experience maintaining facilities serving vulnerable populations
