About this role
We're looking for Forward Deployed Engineers with 2 - 8 YOE to embed directly with our government customers. We need a deeply technical full-stack builder who is equally comfortable in the room with Tier-1 Special Forces operators — gathering requirements on-site, translating mission-critical problems into software, and shipping fast alongside the customer. This is a top-priority hire driven by our selection for one of the largest AI initiatives across the U.S. Department of War. This is the most customer-facing of our three engineering tracks: personality and communication are the primary differentiators, but the engineering bar does not drop.
Responsibilities
Embed forward with customers on-site at military bases — gather requirements directly from operators and iterate with them in person.
Build the full-stack data and workflows operators use daily to acquire any technology at the speed of relevance.
Translate ambiguous, mission-critical problems (often non-technical) into shipped software in tight iteration loops.
Represent Usul in the room with government customers; drive healthy solution discussions and build trust with operators.
Ship across the stack in Python, Next.js, and React, building AI agents and LLM-powered workflows.
Travel 1–2 weeks per month to customer sites.
