JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Public Works Fleet Division is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician I to join the team. This position performs maintenance and repairs on Unified Government-owned vehicles & equipment. This role is responsible for diagnosing issues, completing repairs, and ensuring safe and efficient operation of the fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repair on all U.G. owned vehicles.
- Perform repairs on small engine equipment and related components.
- Perform emergency road service as needed, including tire-related repairs.
- Assist other technicians as needed.
- Perform related responsibilities as required or directed.
- Operate equipment as directed in emergencies within the confines of the Central Garage location.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school or GED; experience in repair and maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary skills and knowledge sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of this position. ASE certification is preferred, but not mandatory. Able to obtain CDL Class B Driver's License with airbrake endorsement within the first six months of employment. Valid KS Driver’s License is required.
Salary Range: $27.36/hr.
