UG2 is seeking a motivated and dependable Plumber’s Helper to support our facilities operations team in maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient plumbing systems within a commercial facility. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in developing their plumbing skills and building a long-term career in facility services.
The Plumber’s Helper will assist skilled plumbing professionals with preventive maintenance, repairs, installations, inspections, and general plumbing-related tasks. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-conscious, eager to learn, and committed to delivering high-quality service to our clients and building occupants.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist plumbers with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plumbing systems and equipment.
- Assist with repairs to sinks, faucets, toilets, valves, drains, pumps, piping, and related plumbing fixtures.
- Help identify and address leaks, clogs, and other plumbing issues.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and routine inspections of plumbing systems.
- Prepare tools, materials, and equipment needed for plumbing work.
- Safely operate basic hand and power tools under appropriate supervision.
- Assist with pipe cutting, fitting, threading, soldering, and other plumbing tasks as directed.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Transport and properly store tools, equipment, and materials.
- Follow all company, client, OSHA, and site-specific safety procedures.
- Respond professionally and courteously to service requests from building occupants and clients.
- Document completed work and report equipment issues, safety concerns, or additional repair needs to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist with emergency plumbing situations and respond promptly to urgent service calls.
- Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous plumbing, mechanical, maintenance, construction, or facilities experience preferred but not required.
- Basic understanding of plumbing systems and tools is a plus.
- Ability and willingness to learn from experienced plumbing professionals.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Professional communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team.
- Valid driver’s license may be required depending on the assigned location.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and work in confined or awkward spaces.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors and in varying environmental conditions.
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
- Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations when required.
