Job Specifications

Knowledge of food service production, including time management and food safety
Ability to serve approximately 100 students within a 2-hour timeframe
Must learn and adhere to nutrition standards for children
Ability to read, write, compute, and communicate
Must be able to pass all health requirements set up by the federal, state and county governments
Ability to keep records, create & submit reports

Job Responsibilities

Develop and adhere to monthly food budget.
Plan monthly menus that meet all National School Lunch Program guidelines.
Works with School Administrator in carrying out District free and reduced lunch and NSLP reimbursement procedures including collection of Free/Reduced lunch forms, and cross-referencing payments to billing.
Estimates food preparation amounts and adjusts recipes, if required, for the purpose of meeting projected meal requirements and minimizing waste of food items.
Evaluates prepared food for flavor, appearance, and temperature for the purpose of presenting items that will be accepted by students and/or staff.
Implements menu plans for school meals for the purpose of meeting students' mandated daily nutritional requirements.
Inspects food and/or supply deliveries for the purpose of verifying quantity, quality and specifications of orders and/or complying with mandated health requirements.
Inventories food and supplies, places delivery orders, and ensures that the correct quantity and quality of food and supplies are available.
Ensures that high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety are maintained throughout all kitchen and serving areas.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation and Training:  (or equivalent)

High School Diploma or GED

Minimum Experience

2 years’ experience preparing meals

Experience with kitchen sanitation, cleanliness and safety
