Pay Range: $21.00-$23.00

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Administrative Technician to join our ophthalmology practice. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in an ophthalmology office and will provide excellent support while ensuring a positive experience for patients.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and process all electronic prescription (eRx) refill requests for all providers.
  • Manage and process all medication refill requests received via paper fax.
  • Manage and process all prior authorization (PA) requests, including paper fax requests and requests submitted through CoverMyMeds.
  • Monitor, update, and complete prior authorization requests in CoverMyMeds, ensuring all required information is submitted, and requests are completed in a timely manner.
  • Manage all medication appeals, including coordinating required documentation and communication with insurance companies as needed.
  • Review, address, and complete all patient tasks received from the Call Center, ensuring appropriate follow-up and resolution.
  • Coordinate with providers to complete patient-related paperwork, including FMLA, disability forms, DMV forms, and other required documentation.
  • Monitor all notification items outside of eRx refill requests and patient tasks, including patient letters and secure messages, and ensure appropriate follow-up and completion.
  • Collaborate with providers and other members of the care team to facilitate timely medication management, patient communication, and completion of administrative requests.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all medication-related requests, prior authorizations, appeals, patient tasks, and paperwork.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; medical office or healthcare training preferred.
  • At least 1 year of administrative or medical office experience, in ophthalmology or optometry practice.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic ophthalmology terminology.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with insurance verification and medical billing processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Professional, dependable, and patient-centered approach.
