Our premier Reserve, Vermejo, is currently seeking a dedicated and reliable Steward to join our Food & Beverage team.
ABOUT THE POSITION
As a Steward, your primary responsibilities will center around maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment while supporting the culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests. This role is essential to the success of our Food & Beverage operations by ensuring all kitchen equipment, dishes, utensils, and workspaces meet the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation.

You will also be responsible for:
- Operating commercial dishwashing equipment and washing dishes, glassware, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Assisting Cooks and Chefs with basic food preparation, stocking workstations, and plating support as needed.
- Washing and sanitizing kitchen work areas, food preparation surfaces, storage areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
- Receiving deliveries, storing perishables, and rotating inventory using First In, First Out (FIFO) procedures.
- Inspecting all dishes, cookware, and utensils for cleanliness and re-washing items as necessary to ensure quality standards.
- Maintaining clean and organized dishwashing, pot washing, and storage areas.
- Handling breakdown buss tubs and transporting soiled dishes from dining areas.
- Emptying trash, recycling, compost, and maintaining clean waste disposal and dumpster areas.
- Sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing kitchen floors and assigned work areas throughout each shift.
- Breaking down cardboard boxes and properly disposing recyclables.
- Communicating effectively and clearly with management and culinary staff during service.
- Following all food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation procedures.
- Following all Ted Turner Reserves policies and procedures.
- Reporting equipment malfunctions, maintenance concerns, or safety hazards.
- Assisting with deep cleaning projects and seasonal opening and closing duties.
- All other duties as assigned.

- A management or supervisory position
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and food safety standards.
- You’ll need to present documentation establishing both identity and employment authorization within three days of hire pursuant to federal law.
Preferred:
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Previous dishwashing or kitchen support experience.
- Previous experience in fine dining or luxury hospitality.

ACCOMMODATIONS
This position will require you to live in Vermejo headquarters, located approximately 40 miles from the closest town (Raton, NM). Vermejo’s location is approximately 4.5 hours’ drive south of Denver or 4.5 hours’ drive north of Albuquerque.
Vermejo offers single- and double-bedroom dorm room style company housing (subject to availability).
You may be subject to sharing a room with one other employee depending on the availability of a single dorm room.
You will need to provide or arrange for your own transportation to and from Raton for personal supplies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
On a regular basis, you can expect to:
- Stand; sit; walk; move hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; stoop, bend, kneel, climb or balance; crouch, or crawl; lift, shake, pour, carry, and push; and talk or hear.
- Lift and/or carry trays and other items up to 50 pounds.
- Perform physical labor for extended periods of time.
- Be on your feet for extended periods of time.
- Wear slip resistance shoes or boots.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
You will regularly be required to work long hours, and you may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. You may be exposed to high altitude ~7,000+ feet; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. You will be occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
