Our premier Reserve, Vermejo, is currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead hospitality maintenance operations and help ensure our guest accommodations, facilities, and grounds consistently meet our standards of safety, functionality, quality, and presentation across 560,000 acres of pristine wilderness.
ABOUT THE POSITION
As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a key leadership role in maintaining the overall condition, functionality, safety, and presentation of guest-facing facilities at Vermejo Headquarters. This position combines hands-on maintenance expertise with team leadership to ensure guest accommodations and facilities are maintained in accordance with Vermejo’s luxury hospitality standards.
You will oversee daily maintenance operations, supervise and support the maintenance team, perform skilled maintenance and repair work, and proactively identify and address facility needs. Working closely with Housekeeping, Guest Services, and other departments, you will help ensure our facilities are prepared to provide a seamless and exceptional guest experience.
You will also be responsible for:
- Supervising and coordinating the daily activities of the maintenance team, including assigning work, establishing priorities, and monitoring completion of maintenance tasks.
- Conducting routine inspections and daily walk-throughs of guest accommodations, buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds to identify maintenance, safety, and presentation concerns.
- Managing and responding to maintenance requests through the work order system in a timely and efficient manner.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal preventive maintenance schedules for facilities and equipment.
- Performing hands-on maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general facility upkeep.
- Troubleshooting maintenance issues and coordinating repairs to minimize disruption to guests and operations.
- Collaborating closely with Housekeeping, Guest Services, and other departments to address guest needs and coordinate daily operational priorities.
- Serving as a key point of contact for guest-related facility and maintenance concerns and ensuring issues are addressed promptly and professionally.
- Establishing and reinforcing safe work practices for the maintenance team and maintaining clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Ensuring maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery are properly operated, maintained, stored, and available for use.
- Monitoring equipment condition and coordinating the repair, replacement, or purchase of equipment and supplies as needed.
- Assisting with housekeeping operations when necessary, including room inspections, stayover service, and turnover support.
- Participating in regular communication with department leaders regarding guest arrivals and departures, special events, operational needs, and maintenance priorities.
- Supporting emergency and after-hours maintenance needs as required to maintain safe and uninterrupted operations.
- Attending staff and departmental meetings as required.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- A minimum of three years of facilities, maintenance, property management, or related experience, preferably within a hospitality environment.
- Strong working knowledge of building systems and general maintenance practices, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and preventive maintenance.
- Previous experience leading, supervising, or coordinating the work of a team.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple maintenance requests and operational needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to teamwork and guest service.
- This position requires operation of vehicles, and you’ll need to possess a valid driver’s license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment. Your driving record will need to meet the standards and requirements of the Company and the Company’s insurance provider.
- You’ll need to present documentation establishing both identity and employment authorization within three days of hire pursuant to federal law.
Preferred:
- High school diploma or GED; additional vocational, trade, or technical training is a plus.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management or work order systems.
- EPA, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or other relevant trade certifications.
- Previous maintenance experience within a luxury hospitality, resort, lodge, or similar guest-focused environment.

ACCOMMODATIONS
This position will require you to live on Vermejo headquarters, located approximately 40 miles from the closest town (Raton, NM). Vermejo’s location is approximately 4.5 hours’ drive south of Denver or 4.5 hours’ drive north of Albuquerque.
Vermejo offers single- and double-bedroom dorm room style company housing (subject to availability). You may be subject to sharing a room with one other employee depending on the availability of a single dorm room.
You will need to provide or arrange for your own transportation to and from Raton for personal supplies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
On a regular basis, you can expect to:
- Stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
- Perform physical labor for extended periods of time.
- Be on your feet for extended periods of time.
You can expect to frequently lift and/or move 75 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
You may be frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions; work near moving mechanical parts; outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat. You will occasionally be exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
