Position Summary:

The Patient & Family Experience Intern serves as a welcoming, supportive presence for patients and families while helping our team measure and improve care satisfaction. Operating within established program guidelines, this role staffs the Family Resource Desk to connect visitors with non-medical support and assists in gathering crucial patient feedback.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Family Resource Support: Staff the Family Resource Desk during designated peak hours to answer common non-medical questions, provide pre-approved resource guides, and offer encouragement to visiting families.

  • Patient & Family Engagement: Utilize standardized talking scripts and FAQ materials to guide interactions, ensuring clear, consistent, and supportive communication.

  • Quality & Feedback Collection: Help administer anonymous patient-satisfaction and onboarding surveys to gather actionable insights on the patient and family experience.

  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with team members to share observations from the desk and contribute ideas for improving family engagement and resource navigation.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Pre-Med, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Strong interpersonal and active listening skills with a compassionate, professional demeanor.

  • Excellent communication skills and comfort adhering to predefined guidelines and non-medical scope boundaries.

  • Detail-oriented with an interest in healthcare quality improvement, patient advocacy, or health services administration.
