We are seeking a passionate, dependable, and dedicated Lead Porter/Steward to join our culinary team. This position plays an important leadership role in maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and efficient kitchen operation while supporting the culinary team and promoting a strong culture of teamwork.

 

The Lead Porter/Steward will oversee daily dish room operations, help train and develop new team members, maintain sanitation and safety standards, and support the receiving, storage, and distribution of food and supplies. This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in organization, cleanliness, teamwork, and operational excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily dish room and stewarding operations, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and efficiency.
• Train and support new dishwashers on proper procedures, safety, and sanitation standards.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements.
• Monitor and maintain chemical inventory, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and safe usage.
• Oversee receiving of food, supplies, and other deliveries, including:
  • Verifying products against orders and delivery documentation.
  • Inspecting products for quality and proper condition.
  • Labeling and dating products according to established standards.
  • Organizing coolers, freezers, and dry storage areas.
• Maintain clean, organized, and properly rotated storage areas using established food safety practices.
• Coordinate the delivery and distribution of food and supplies to satellite kitchens as needed.
• Record and maintain accurate temperature logs and other required operational and sanitation records.
• Provide general culinary support to the kitchen team as needed.
• Cross-train in food preparation and assist with prep tasks when needed.
• Communicate effectively with culinary leadership and team members regarding inventory, deliveries, equipment, sanitation, and operational needs.
• Promote teamwork, flexibility, and a positive work environment.
• Take initiative to identify and address operational needs before they become issues.
• Support the culinary team in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, safety, and service.

 

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in a kitchen, stewarding, dishwashing, receiving, or culinary support role preferred.
• Previous leadership or training experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Commitment to cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to take initiative.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexible and willing to assist across different areas of the kitchen.
• Ability to lift, carry (up to 30lbs unassisted), and move food, supplies, and equipment as required by the position.
• A positive attitude and willingness to support the team wherever needed.

 

Wage: $20.28 - $20.83 per hour DOE
