Baltimore, MD | Maintenance Department | Full-Time
Tnemec Company, Inc., a leader in high-performance coatings, is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Maintenance Technician to join our Baltimore team. What You’ll Do
As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll help keep our manufacturing operations running safely and efficiently. This position has a strong electrical focus and supports production machinery, automated systems, and facility equipment.
Your day-to-day will include
Troubleshooting and repairing three-phase 480V electrical systems, motors, controllers, and related components
Programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLCs used in automated manufacturing processes
Diagnosing and repairing VFDs and industrial production equipment
Performing preventive and corrective maintenance to reduce equipment downtime
Maintaining mixers, dispersion equipment, pumps, agitators, scales, and automated filling systems
Completing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, pipe-fitting, and HVAC repairs within your training and authorization
Reading electrical schematics, technical drawings, equipment manuals, and work orders
Documenting repairs, preventive maintenance, equipment history, and parts usage in the CMMS
Coordinating with Production and other departments regarding equipment repairs and return-to-service testing
Following all required safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, Hot Work Permits, Confined Space Entry, HMIS/GHS, PPE, and OSHA requirements
Assisting outside contractors and supporting other Tnemec facilities when needed
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is
Experienced in troubleshooting industrial electrical and automated equipment
Knowledgeable about PLCs, VFDs, industrial motors, and three-phase 480V systems
Safety-conscious and committed to following established procedures
Able to diagnose equipment problems using a systematic approach
Comfortable reading electrical schematics, technical drawings, and equipment manuals
Organized and able to prioritize repairs based on production needs
A strong communicator who can clearly explain equipment status and repair needs
Able to work independently and collaborate with Production, Quality Control, contractors, and other departments
Qualifications
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
One to two years of industrial maintenance or electrical experience
Experience working with three-phase 480V electrical systems and PLCs
Experience troubleshooting PLCs, VFDs, industrial motors, and automated manufacturing equipment
Basic computer skills and the ability to accurately maintain CMMS records
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 100 pounds
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and frequently bend, twist, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions
Ability to work in temperatures up to 105°F during the summer months
Ability to wear required PPE, including respiratory protection when assigned
Willingness to work assigned hours, overtime, and scheduled call-in support as required
Willingness to travel to other Tnemec facilities or training locations when needed
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or comparable PLC platforms
Experience using a CMMS, such as iMaint
Experience in a coatings, chemical, or other industrial manufacturing environment
OSHA 10- or 30-hour certification
Formal Lockout/Tagout training
