Education and Knowledge

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in any Engineering fields or equivalent from universities recognised by the Government of Malaysia (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) / Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) / Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) / Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC)) 
  • In-depth knowledge of the power generation industry, including market dynamics,regulatory frameworks, and technological trends.
  • High degree of understanding on Power Purchase Agreement and relevant contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of business development and project development processes, witha focus on identifying and evaluating new opportunities.
  • Strong knowledge in performing technical assessment, due diligence exercise and riskassessment.
  • Basic understanding of financial management and accounting principles.
  • Extensive knowledge on business intelligence and market research related to newopportunities.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze complex data sets and come out with comprehensiveproject proposal.
  • Basic knowledge managing various stakeholder expectations and needs
  • Relevant commercial, contract, or business development training is a plus

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of working experience in power generation industry, preferably in power plant construction, business strategy, project development, project finance, financial modelling, and data analytics roles.
  • Experience in business development or project development, including project finance for greenfield power projects or mergers and acquisitions (M&A) of brownfield assets.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing technical assessment, risk assessment, due diligence exercise and preparing comprehensive project technical proposal.
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to manage diverse stakeholders and meet their expectations.

Accountability & Responsibility

Business Development

 

  • Execute team to search and evaluate new opportunities in domestic power generation project (i.e. thermal plants repowering), from initiation until planning phase, including merger and acquisition for both operating or new projects via proposal, direct award & bidding.
  • Assist to Develop bidding strategy encompassing structure, funding, legal, and technical.
  • Propose suitable relevant project advisors panel for the project development exercise.
  • Assist in negotiation and finalization with advisors, partners and contractors for project.
  • Monitor and report the progress of projects under development.
  • Assist in internal and external Stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Assist to prepare project status updates, management updates, MD reports, or information deck, etc. as and when required including from external parties such as (EC,KETSA).
  • Able to provide technical opinion on new technology.

 

Research & Intelligence

  • Produce due diligence reports and concept papers on new asset opportunity.
  • Ascertain business viability for potential projects.
  • Perform preliminary appraisal for strategic fit, potential partner and analyse project risks.

 

Investment review

  • Review investment proposal in terms of risk assessment and financial viability.
  • Review and propose legal, financial, technical and other relevant advisor panel for due diligence exercise.
  • Search and evaluate new project opportunities including evaluating risk analysis (eg. IRM Framework & Corporate Investment Review).

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Plan and carry out engagement and relationship building with internal and external customers and maintain good networking with business partners.
  • Manage and maintain elements of Genco Integrated Management System (ISO 14001,ISO 45001,ISO 55001,ISO 37001,ISO 9001) and other management system standards based on roles and functions as and when required to meet the ISO standard requirements in order to achieve GenCo's policies and objectives.

Authority

• Authority to plan strategic investments for development or acquisition.
• Authority to conduct feasibility studies/ due diligence and prepare business case.
• Authority to plan and meet stakeholders for engagement program.
• Authority to engage with 3rd party advisors for purposes of formal engagement.
• Authority to review project/ financing documents during development stage and negotiating the same to ensure meeting expectation.
