The Ultrasound Technologist (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) is responsible for operating the sonographic scanner to produce images of patients internal organs.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for explaining the procedure to the patient and answer in questions regarding the process.
Operates the sonographic scanner to perform detailed sonographic evaluations of abdomen, pelvis and small parts; also perform vascular exams.
Evaluate the images for quality, but also interpret what was captured in the image.
Assist Radiologist in interventional ultrasound procedures.
Present images and preliminary findings to the physician for review.
Maintains the sonographic equipment in good operating order. Cleans and maintains the sonographic scanner room.
Performs other tasks as assigned.

QualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of American College of Radiology (ACR) scanning protocols.
Skill in communicating clearly with diverse publics.
Skill in excellent customer service.
Skill in using sonographic scanner machine.
Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.
Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols.
Ability to work independently.

Education / Training / Requirements

Associates degree or equivalent.
Must be a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDM or ARRT).

Physical Demands

Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Ability to sit for periods of time.
Ability to climb or balance for limited periods of time.
Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 lbs. *
Ability to grasp and hold up to 25 lbs.*
Ability to hear normal voice level communications in person or through the telephone.
Ability to speak clearly and understandably.
