The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing quality patient care under the guidance of the nursing process, the medical plan of care, and organization policies.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Reviewing the daily schedule.
Open/clean/close down all rooms Keeping them stocked (supplies/forms) and prepped for what the patient appointments.
Checking patient in EHR
Getting Vitals (Height/Weight/BP).
Getting the chief complaint of why patient is in.
Going over all medications with patients to see if they need refills.
Going over all allergies and social history.
Making sure labs are available if they have been done previous to the appointment.
Doing EKG, BW, or any other test if requested by the physician.
Assist the physician with any surgeries or other exams.
Administer medication and vaccinations as needed.
May be responsible for supervising Medical Assistants.
Call patients with lab results.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Compensation starts at $38.00 per hour, with the final hourly rate determined by the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
QualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of basic nursing principles and protocols.
Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality.
Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.
Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques.
Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace and confidentiality methods.
Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data.
Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in busy or emergency situations.
Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
Ability to work effectively as team members with physicians and other staff.
Ability to appropriately interact with patients, families, staff and others.
Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands.
Education / Training / Requirements
Associates degree or equivalent.
Six to twelve months related experience/training.
Nursing school diploma.
Current licensure in VA as a Registered Nurse.
CPR Certification.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift or move equipment.
Ability to stand and walk for limited periods of time.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to enter data into a computer via a keyboard.
Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 lbs. *
Ability to grasp and hold up to 30 lbs.*
Ability to occasionally squat and lean over.
Ability to hear normal voice level communications in person or through the telephone.
Ability to speak clearly and understandably.
Basic vision, corrected.
Ability to smell.
Ability to see and understand data on a computer screen.
