JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial records. This position is responsible for assigned accounting functions, including fixed assets, prepaid expenses, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting, while supporting timely and accurate month-end close activities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • General Accounting: Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and assist with month-end and year-end close.
  • Fixed Assets: Maintain fixed asset records, review capital expenditures for proper classification, record additions and disposals, and calculate depreciation.
  • Prepaid Expenses: Maintain prepaid expense schedules, record amortization, and ensure expenses are recognized in the appropriate accounting periods.
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and analyze financial reports and ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and company policies.
  • Account Reconciliations: Perform reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Internal Controls: Support internal controls, audit requests, and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes.
  • Accounting Support: Work with AP, AR, Payroll, and other departments to resolve accounting issues and provide support as needed.
  • Special Projects: Assist with accounting projects, process improvements, system initiatives, and other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent accounting experience.
  • Experience: 3+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred. Experience with fixed assets, prepaid expenses, reconciliations, and month-end close is preferred. Healthcare experience a plus.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, general accounting principles, and financial reporting.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with Finance and operational teams.
  • Work Ethic: Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
